Watch Indian Army Rescuing A Mahindra Bolero Stuck in Avalanche

A Mahindra Bolero was stuck in an avalanche and its occupants were successfully saved by the Indian Army in Karnah, Kupawara.

Nature can pose a serious danger to human life. In the colder parts of our country, avalanches are widely known as a life-threatening disaster. There are multiple cases where people and vehicles are harmed by avalanches. Recently, a video has shown the rescue of a Mahindra Bolero stuck in an avalanche with three passengers inside. Luckily, the car, as well as the people inside, were safely rescued from this snowslide by the Indian Army.

While in most parts of the country, the summer is approaching, Karnah region of Kupawara is still witnessing heavy snow. In the video, a Mahindra Bolero which is the official vehicle of Bilal Mohiuddin, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Karnah is stuck in the heavy snow. The SDM and his two staff members were trapped in the car. The car was at the Sadha top at the time of the incident while they were returning from Karnah to Kupwara. The team had just finished a field trip to inspect the situation in remote areas.

The Indian Army sent its Avalanche Rescue team to the site and started the rescue operation as quickly as possible. The team got into action and removed all the heap of snow off the Bolero. The window was later smashed to create a way out for the stuck passengers inside the vehicle. All of the three occupants were safely rescued. According to the witnesses, a massive avalanche that took place had pulled the car several feet from where it stood from the vaccum it had created. Fortunately, the occupants of the car had a narrow escape from death as they didn't slip down into the 5000 feet deep gorge.

Avalanches can occur without giving any warning. It is hard to tell when and where it will happen. The best way to tackle this situation is to prepare for the worst. If you have to drive under heavy snowfall, it is highly recommended to keep tools like a torch and a shovel handy. Wearing more clothes is also a good way to protect oneself from extreme weather. In the case of getting stuck in the snow, having food or water inside the car could turn out to be a life-saver.
