Here, we are comparing the Maruti S-Cross and Mahindra XUV300 on the basis of their looks, interior, features, engine and price.

1) Maruti S-Cross Vs Mahindra XUV300: Introduction

The SUV segment is getting quite popular in India as many potential buyers are now shifting their preferences from hatchbacks and sedans to Sports Utility Vehicles. That’s why the new entrants in the Indian automobile industry have introduced SUVs in the market to grab a good share, and we must say that they are doing pretty well in terms of overall sales. Moreover, the well-established brands in India like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, and Tata are now focusing more on the SUVs as per customer demand. Today we are comparing SUVs of two well-established brands namely- Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Today we’ll be comparing both the cars based on the exterior, interior, features, specification and dimensions.

2) Maruti S-Cross Vs Mahindra XUV300: Exterior

Starting with the Maruti S-Cross, it looks quite bulky on the outside. It employs a premium chrome slat grille along with projector headlamp, LED DRLs and fog lamps for better illumination. The side profile of the car gets electrically adjustable ORVM with integrated turn blinkers and smart-looking roof rails. Moreover, the crossover SUV also gets sporty 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear end of the crossover SUV employs LED taillight, spoiler with integrated stop light and silver coloured skid plate. In terms of looks, the car looks quite distinctive and can magnetize people with its strong road presence. Dimensionally, the Maruti S-Cross is 4,300 mm long, 1,785 mm wide, 1,595 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

On the other hand, Mahindra XUV300 gets a chrome studded grille at the front. Illumination duties are handled by halogen headlamps with vertically stacked LED adjoining fog lamps. The side profile of the car features body-coloured door handles along with body-coloured side mirrors with integrated side indicators. The SUV rides on sporty looking 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Completing the overall picture with a chic looking rear which gets LED headlamps, Mahindra badging, sporty-looking spoiler and Mahindra badging. The Mahindra XUV300 is 3,995 mm long, 1,821 mm wide, 1,627 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

3) Maruti S-Cross Vs Mahindra XUV300: Interior and Features

The inside of the Maruti S-Cross looks quite premium. It features leather seats, with a good amount of headroom, legroom and side support. Moreover, it gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility, climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with steering mounted controls, auto-sensing wipers, parking sensors, cruise control and much more. The instrument cluster comprises of an analogue tachometer with a heat indicator on the left and an analogue speedometer with fuel-indicator on the right along with a TFT digital screen in the middle with displays information regarding time, temperature, odometer and average fuel economy. Moreover, the SUV offers some standard safety features like dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and high-speed sensors.

On the inside, the XUV300 employs leather-wrapped steering and gear knobs, steering mounted phone and audio controls, height-adjustable driver seat, 17.78-cm touchscreen infotainment system Apple Car Play and Android Auto, electric sunroof, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming IRVM and tyre position display. Moreover, it also comes loaded with some segment-first features like all four disc brakes, heated ORVM, front parking sensors and dual-zone fully-automatic temperature control.

In terms of convenience, the Maruti S-Cross feels more spacious and roomy. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV300 offers more features but the rear passenger seat feels a bit cramped. 

4) Maruti S-Cross VS Mahindra XUV300: Engine and Performance

The Maruti S-Cross is only powered by a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, 1248 cc, smart-hybrid oil burner, which develops 89 bhp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The crossover SUV returns around 25 kmpl of mileage, which is great!

The Mahindra XUV300 extracts power from a 3-cylinder, 1197cc petrol engine that produces 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed gearbox. The petrol motor is rated to offer 17 kmpl of mileage. Moreover, the SUV also gets a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, diesel mill, which churns out power and torque outputs of 110 bhp and 200 Nm. The diesel engine is efficient enough to offer 20 kmpl of mileage. The oil burner comes coupled to a 6-speed MT and AT. As compared to Maruti S-Cross, the diesel engine powering Mahindra XUV300 is more potent but, it is not as fuel-efficient as the Maruti Crossover because the Maruti SUV is benefitted by the smart-hybrid system.

The diesel mill powering the Maruti S-Cross is rated to return 24 kmpl of mileage. On the other hand, the oil-burner powering Mahindra XUV300 returns 20 kmpl of fuel-efficiency, while the petrol powertrain gives 17 kmpl of mileage.

Starting from the pricing of the Maruti S-Cross, the SUV is retailed in four different trim levels namely- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpa. The pricing of the car starts from 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes all the way up to 11.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Mahindra XUV300 is being offered in four petrol and seven diesel engine options.

The price of the Mahindra SUV starts is between Rs 8.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and 12.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of pricing, the Maruti S-Cross is retailed at a competitive price tag. Moreover, the car also features a fuel-efficient engine along with a premium and spacious cabin. On the other hand, The Mahindra XUV300 is feature-loaded compared to Maruti S-Cross, and it gets powered by a petrol engine.

The Maruti S-Cross features a fuel-efficient engine along with a premium and spacious cabin. On the other hand, The Mahindra XUV300 is feature-loaded compared to Maruti S-Cross, and it is also offered with a petrol engine option. Moreover, the Mahindra XUV300 also offers few segment-first features which makes it a distinctive and value for money package.
