2019 Maruti Alto 800 Launched In India At INR 2.93 Lakh

The refreshed Maruti Alto 800 has been launched in India with minor cosmetic tweaks, a wide range of new standard safety features and a BS-VI-compliant 0.8-litre petrol engine.

The Maruti Alto 800 has received a facelift that helps it gain compliance with the stringent safety and emission norms. In terms of the exterior updates, the 2019 Maruti Alto 800 comes with a restyled front fascia that has a new black-barred grille in a hexagonal pattern. The bumper is also new and looks much sportier than that of the earlier version. The 800 badge in the rear has been substituted by the Maruti Suzuki badge. Even the rear bumper has been updated. The hatchback is now available in six colour options: Cerulian Blue, Mojito Green, Granite Grey, Silky Silver, Superior White, Uptown Red.

The revised cabin has a two-tone paint scheme with an upgraded dashboard and newly designed AC vents. The bottle holders in the front and rear make the hatchback more practical. Maruti Suzuki has also equipped the car with new features like an updated audio system that offers Bluetooth for accessing calls, navigation and music, etc.

The 2019 Maruti Alto 800 has been equipped with several new advanced features. 

However, the most outstanding feature alterations have been done to the safety equipment of the updated Maruti Alto 800. Now, the hatchback is replete with a wide range of standard features including driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, high-speed warning system, front seatbelt reminder, which makes it fully conform to the upcoming crash and pedestrian safety norms which will take effect from October this year.

The new Maruti Alto 800 is 3,445 mm long, 1,515 mm wide and 1,474 high. As regards the mechanical specifications, now the Alto 800 keeps under its hood a BSVI-compliant 0.8-litre three-cylinder petrol motor which can produce a maximum power of 48 bhp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque 69 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The transmission duties on the hatchback are undertaken by a 5-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-certified fuel mileage of the vehicle is claimed to be 22.05 kmpl. 

The country's largest auto manufacturer has updated the exhaust system and has used technologically advanced engine software to gain compliance with the BSVI norms. There has been a 25 per cent reduction in the Nitrogen Oxide (NoX) emission. Accordingly, the 2019 Alto 800 has become the first entry-hatchback to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission standards. Moreover, the new Alto 800 also adheres to the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) requirements with 95% recoverable and 85% recyclable components. 

The Maruti Alto 800 has been the top-selling vehicle of Maruti Suzuki for quite some time now. These upgrades are expected to boost the hatchback’s sales number to a higher level, thereby helping Maruti Suzuki reinforce its position in the entry-level Indian hatchback segment.
