BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Petrol Variant Launched At Rs 40.9 Lakh

Earlier, BMW India launched the 2 Series Gran Coupe in October last year. Initially, the 2 Series was offered with diesel powertrain only. Recently, BMW has decided to roll out the petrol version of this model. The petrol variant goes under the name 220i M Sport which is on sale at Rs 40.9 lakh. The 220i M Sport is the only variant on the line-up to be powered by a petrol engine. The rest remains to receive powers from the existing diesel engine.

As the name suggests, the new petrol-powered variant features the performance package provided by the German car brand. It comes with all the M goodies that will make it significantly sportier and more performance-focused. According to Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, the new petrol variant offers “dynamics of a petrol engine, first-class driving characteristics and the highest comfort”, ensuring “Sheer Driving Pleasure” for the drivers. Recently, BMW is assembling BMW 220i M Sport package at its facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Exterior, BMW 220i M Sport looks essentially identical to the regular version with the signature BMW kidney grille but in a more dominant form. On the side profile, the highlight is the 17-inch M Alloy wheels while the rear gets an extra goodies chrome tip M exhaust over the standard version.

BMW 220i M Sport is launched at the price of Rs 40.09 lakh 

Interiorly, BMW 220i M Sport sees no major update over the regular 2 Series. It continues to sport a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charger, rear AC vents, panoramic glass roof, seats with electric memory function, and 40:20:40 split rear seats. In terms of safety, it gets six airbags, ABS, brake assist, traction control, dynamic stability control, electric parking brake, auto-hold system and cornering brake control. To identify it as M performance variant, the new 220i M Sport adorns M badges on the seats, steering wheel, and gear stick.

The real highlight of the 220i M Sport is no other than new 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. This engine is powerful enough to generate a top power of 190 BHP and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. An 8-speed automatic gearbox takes the transmission duty. It also comes with paddle shifters for better convenience. This petrol-automatic powertrain can propel the vehicle from idle to 100 kmph in just 7.1 seconds.
