Citroen released the new brand film ahead of its debut. The French car brand is ready to enter the Indian market with the Citroen C5 Aircross.
Citroen is about to enter the Indian market with its first launch. Aimed to rival other premium full-sized SUVs like Hyundai Tuscon and Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross SUV will be the first offering of the French carmaker in India. The production of this model has commenced at the Tiruvallur factory. Ahead of the launch, Citroen has released a brand film as a way to announce and celebrate its entry to the market.
The 30-second-long video has given the viewer a brief introduction to the history and heritage of the French car brand. The first shot of the video explains the beginning of Citroen as an innovative automobile car company back in 1919. Over the last century, Citroen has continuously grown and their cars are now running across different continents and countries. At the later part of the video, we can see the Citroen C5 AirCross plying gracefully and proudly on the Indian roads.
Talking about the upcoming Citroen C5 AirCross, it is revealed that the Citroen will arrive our market through the Complete knocked down (CKT) channel. Upon entering the Indian market, the C5 Aircross is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine. This engine can put out a top power of 177 PS and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. As for the transmission, the Citroen C5 Aircross will be offered with two choices, a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
For now, it is known for certain that there will be a front-wheel-drive system for Citroen’s first India-spec model. However, it remains to be seen if the company will offer a 4-wheel-drive option for not. It also should be noted that the Citroen C5 Aircross will not come with any diesel engine, to begin with.
In related news, the car brand is working on expanding its touchpoint network across the nation ahead of the official first launch. Citroen dealerships have now presented in major cities like Bangalore Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. Besides the launch of the C5 AirCross, Citroen has also prepared a line of other vehicles to launch in India. The second offering of the French car brand is expected to be a sub-four-meter compact SUV which will challenge the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. Notably, unlike the C5 AirCross, the new sub-4-meter SUV will be fully manufactured in India. With a higher level of localization, it is expected that Citroen can cut down the cost and price of this model competitively. Citroen is aiming to generate big volume with this offering.
