Facelift Helps Maruti Ignis Double Its Sales

Maruti Ignis has made a positive growth of 123%. The carmaker sold around 2,912 units in February 2020, compared to 1,303 units of the hatchback in the same month last year. The increase in sales of Ignis shows positive response received by the facelift model. 

Maruti, India's largest carmaker, had recently showcased the Ignis facelift at 2020 Auto Expo. Throughout its existence, the hatchback had been a below-average performer, unable o achieve good sales numbers. That said, the facelift model of the car has drastically changed the sales of the hatchback as the carmaker managed to retail around 2,912 units of Ignis facelift in India in February 2020. Maruti Ignis has made a positive growth of 123%. The carmaker sold around 1,303 units of the hatchback in the same month last year. Compared to the ongoing model, the Ignis facelift features a redesigned grille up front along with faux skid plate at the front and rear. The car also gets a retweaked fog lamp housing. The side and rear profile of the car remain the same. Maruti has also introduced two new colour shades with the car namely- Turquoise Blue and Lucent Orange. Inside, the Ignis facelift employs a new 7-inch, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, start/stop button, LED LED headlamps with DRLs and a semi-digital instrument cluster.

Maruti has also introduced two new colour shades with the car namely- Turquoise Blue and Lucent Orange

In terms of safety, the car is now offered with safety features like dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors and camera, high-speed alert system along with seatbelt reminder. Powering the 2020 Maruti Ignis is a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre, K12B petrol mill that produces 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of twisting force. The transmission duties are performed by a 5-speed and 5-speed AMT transmission. Maruti Ignis facelift is priced between Rs 4.89 lakh to Rs 7.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and upcoming product-spec Tata HBX, which was showcased as a concept car at Auto Expo 2020.
