Ford C-SUV To Be Launched in Five and Seven-seater Configuration, Will Rival Tata Harrier

Ford is going to introduce another SUV in the Indian market. This SUV will come in two versions- five-seater and seven-seater

After signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mahindra, Ford has announced its plan to introduce the new C-SUV which will be developed jointly by Ford and Mahindra. The agreement has started a long-term strategic partnership that allows Ford and Mahindra to share platform, engines, and technology. And the first project that they will work together is to developing the new Ford C-segment SUV.

Reported by The Economic Times, the Ford has started to sour for on the two versions of the C-SUV codenamed W601 and W605. It seems that Ford will follow Tata Motors in building the twin SUVs of Tata Harrier (Tata HX5) and Tata H7X. This C-SUV will enter the premium SUV segment and take on the Tata Harrier.

Ford’s move is predictable because the flexibility of the platform underpinned Ford C-SUV could allow it to be extended to a seven-seater model. This platform could be found in the upcoming second-gen XUV500. It will be built in Ford’s partner’s facility in Chakan.

Alongside with the C-SUV, it is reported that the two company might collaborate in crafting a B-SUV and an electric vehicle as well.  

The alliance will help the two companies to save up to 7,000 crores for the manufacturing progress. As a part of the partnership, Mahindra will supply Ford with BSVI-compliant petrol engine. With Mahindra’s support, Ford could crave its way to the segments that it hasn’t ventured yet.
