Malaysia Gets Kia Seltos with Same 1.6-Litre Petrol Motor as Old India-spec Hyundai Creta

Kia has recently revealed the Seltos in the Malaysian market. It’ll be offered with a 1.6-litre petrol motor, which is the same engine that was on offer on the last-gen Hyundai Creta in India

Last year, the Kia introduced its first car in the Indian market, called Seltos. It is one of the best-selling SUVs in its segment and rivals with the likes Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks. India was one of those countries where the production-ready model of the Seltos was first introduced. The automaker has now planned to launch the SUV in the Malaysian market. The SUV first appeared on the official website of Kia Malaysia in April 2020. Nevertheless, after five months, the new car has finally been revealed by Naza Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the Kia Motors’ Malaysian subsidiary. Talking about the dimensions of the Malaysia-spec Kia Seltos, the SUV measures 4,315 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,645 mm height and has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm.

It offers a luggage capacity of 433-litre, which is expandable up to 900-litres with the rear seats folded down. The Malaysia-spec Seltos is around 25 mm taller than the Seltos offered in the Indian market. Mechanically, it’ll derive power from a 1.6-litre Gamma MPI NA four-pot gasoline motor that produces 123 PS of peak power at 6,300 rpm and 151 Nm of twisting force at 4,850 rpm. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets three different driving modes namely- Eco, Normal and Sport along with three different traction control modes in the form of Snow, Mud and Sand. Moreover, there will be two variants on offer, EX and GT Line.

The GT Line variant will be more premium and sportier than the regular EX trim. The top-of-the-line GT Line variant will come loaded with features like full LED headlights with LED DRLs, R17 dual-tone Y-spoke alloy wheels, a 7-inch digital info display in the instrument cluster, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a leather-wrapped, multi-function flat-bottom steering wheel, keyless entry, push-start button, a six-speaker sound system with Sound Mood lighting and much more. Furthermore, it’ll be offered in four different colour shade options namely- Glacier White Pearl, Intelligence Blue, Gravity Grey and Intense Red.
