Kia Seltos Receives 50,000 Bookings In Less Than 50 Days

Kia’s first launch in the India market has met with flying colours. Launched on August 22, the Seltos has now locked over 50,000 bookings in just 49 days, which broke the record of the Hyundai Venue. In the month of its launch, 6,236 units of the Kia Seltos was sold. Last month, in September, the sales volume has grown to 7,754 units. With such a surging demand, the waiting period is now excess 2 months.

Before the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Venue held the record of the fastest to cross the 50,000 bookings mark in the Indian market. It took Hyundai Venue 60 days to reach the milestone. Kia Motor’s achievement is even more inspiring considering the recent serious sales slowdown that is affecting the whole automobile market.

Previously, MG Hector, also a newcomer in the market, was greeted with a positive sales record. However, the British car manufacturer failed to keep the initial success due to the limited production capacity and has to close the booking for MG Hector. Kia Motors, on the other hand, was well-prepared in case of increasing demand. Moreover, Kia Motor is planning to expand its production capacity. Kia’s plant with the maximum monthly production volume of 25,000 unit is currently not working at its full capacity.

To increase the appeal to Indian customers, Kia Motor recently launched a new diesel-DCT powertrain for the top-spec GTX+ variant, raising the total number of transmissions available on the Kia Seltos to 4 options. Other three transmissions are 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT and a CVT. With regards to the engine, Kia Seltos is available with three engine options, including a 1.5-litre petrol engine (115 Bhp/144 Nm), a 1.5-litre diesel (115 Bhp/250 Nm) and a 1.4-litre turbo diesel engine (140 Bhp/242 Nm).

After the Kia Seltos, the South Korean car manufacturer is planning to introduce five new models, including the Telluride, Sorento, Stinger and two electric vehicles, Soul and Niro.
