Kia Sonet and Seltos are two of the best-selling cars in their respective segments. While the Sonet is the newest offering from the South-Korean carmaker, the Seltos was their first product in the Indian market. Interestingly, both of these SUVs are the bread and butter for the brand. The Sonet was launched in the Indian market a few months back and is currently sold at an introductory starting price of Rs. 6.71 lakh. The Seltos, on the other hand, is priced in between Rs. 9.89 Lakh and Rs. 17.34 lakh. However, the brand is now preparing to hike the prices of both Sonet and Seltos from coming January 1, 2021.

The carmaker has notified its dealer partners to convey the same to the customers who will be getting their cars delivered post-December 31, 2020. Thus, in case someone has booked a Kia Sonet or a Kia Seltos already and are expecting delivery by next year, they will be charged according to the updated price list. However, the exact increased prices are yet to be announced. The new price list is likely to be revealed by the last week of this month. The price hike will increase the prices of cars by Rs. 30,000-Rs. 40,000.

The Sonet is offered in the Indian market with a total of three engine options – 83 PS 1.2L petrol, 115 PS 1.5L diesel, and 120 PS 1.0L turbo-petrol. It is available with five gearbox choices – 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, 6-speed iMT, and 7-speed DCT. The Seltos too is offered with three powertrain choices – 115 PS 1.5L petrol, 140 PS 1.4L turbo-petrol, and 115 PS 1.5L diesel. The transmission options on the Seltos include a 6-speed MT, CVT, 6-speed AT, and 7-speed DCT.

Both of these SUVs come loaded with some of the best-in-class features like 10.25-inch infotainment screen, 7-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, UVO connected car tech and more. Talking of the rivals, the Sonet competes against the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, and Hyundai Venue, whereas the Seltos rivals the likes of Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, and MG Hector.
