All-new Mahindra Thar has achieved overwhelming success in the domestic market. Due to the increasing demand, the waiting period of the Thar has extended up to six months.
After a long time of anticipation, Mahindra launched the new-gen Mahindra Thar last month. Priced from Rs 9.80 lakh to Rs 13.75 lakh, 2020 Mahindra Thar has created a huge buzz in the market with a whopping number of bookings. In the first month, the Thar has garnered over 20,000 bookings.
Even though the demand is staggeringly high, the homegrown manufacturer is struggling to manage the supply chain to meet customer demand. During the first month on sale, only 1,207 units of the Mahindra Thar were dispatched. It seems that Mahindra did not expect and prepare for such a huge demand. The waiting period on the Mahindra Thar has extended up to seven months in a few areas.
From Mahindra side, the company has announced that they are working on expanding the production in order to meet the demand. Hopefully, it will help to reduce the waiting period. Going back to the Mahindra Thar, the new off-road model manages to attract such a huge following thanks to its widely improved interior. Unlike the previous model, the new Thar comes with more and better comfort features which are promised to bring in a better driving experience.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, power window, forward-facing rear seats, lumbar and height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, power window, and more. The offroader also features removable door like the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.
The lifestyle SUV comes with two choices of engines, a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (150 PS/300 Nm) and a 2.2 turbo diesel engine (130 PS/300 Nm). These engines can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Four-wheel drive system along with transfer case is offered as standard. Mahindra Thar is available in three roof configurations, hardtop, soft-top and convertible soft-top. It comes in three variants, AX, AX (O), and LX
