Renault Opens New Showrooms Ahead of Kiger’s Launch

Before the Renault Kiger hits the market, Renault has extended the number of sales and service touchpoints across the nation.

Renault is set to launch a new sub-compact SUV called Renault Kiger. Ahead of its launch, Renault India has expanded its showroom network across the country since last year. In 2020, the French car brand opened over 120 new sales and service touchpoints across the country. Last month, over 40 sales and service touchpoints were established. Till date, Renault has a network of more than 500 and 475 touchpoints for sales and services, respectively. The existing line-up of Renault comprises of three models, Kwid, Triber, and Duster. The launch of Renault Kwid will increase the number to four models.

It is confirmed that the Renault Kiger will make its debut on 28 January 2021, and the official launch will follow. After entering the market, Renault will take on the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue.

About the powertrain options, Renault carries forward the engine options from on the Nissan Magnite, including a 1.0-litre turbocharged and a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor. While the turbo unit is good for 100 BHP and 160Nm, the N.A petrol unit generates 71 BHP and 96Nm. It comes with either a standard 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 6-speed CVT transmission. The latter is only available for the turbo-petrol-powered variants only.

Renault Kiger will be revealed on 28 January 2021

Last year, Renault unveiled the concept version for the Kiger. It is revealed that the final SUV will share a lot in common with the concept car. Accordingly, the Renault Kiger will carry forward styling elements from the concept model like LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, sculpted boot, new rear bumper with black cladding, C-shaped LED taillights rear wiper and raked rear windshield. Renault Kiger SUV makes use of the same CMFA+ platform that is also found on the Nissan Magnite.
