The launch of Nissan Magnite has shown a positive impact on Nissan's growth in the Indian market. Last month, Nissan has seen a whopping YoY growth of 185 per cent.
Nissan Magnite was launched last year in India. The debut of the sub-compact SUV marks the return of the Japanese car brand to our market after a long inactive period. Shortly after launch, this highly-anticipated model has shown a positive impact on the overall sales performance of Nissan in the country.
Nissan Magnite has contributed greatly to the YoY sales growth of Nissan
Last month, Nissan has accomplished a new sales record in years by registering a year-on-year growth of 185 per cent. Such significant growth could be attributed to the success of the Nissan Magnite. Specifically, Nissan retailed 4,021 units in January, compared to 1,413 units in the same month of the previous year. To put things into perspective, Nissan also registered a staggering month-on-month growth of 570 per cent. In December, the total sales number stood at 599 units, which has quickly skyrocketed to over four thousand in the next month after the Magnite was launched.
Launched in December, Nissan Magnite was introduced as the most affordable vehicle in the segment. At the starting price of Rs 5.49 lakh, the sub-compact SUV from Nissan undercuts other vehicles in the segment including the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. Its attractive pricing has drawn special attention from buyers in one of the most humming segments in the car market, thus driving the sales of Nissan upwards. In the first month after its arrival to the market, the Nissan Magnite clocked over 32,800 bookings.
In order to meet the overwhelming demand of the Nissan Magnite, the car company recruited 1,000 additional employees and added a third shift at its manufacturing plant. It is expected to lower the waiting period for the Nissan Magnite.
Back to the Nissan Magnite, this sub-compact SUV is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol (72PS/96Nm) and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (100PS/160Nm). The N.A petrol unit comes exclusively with a 5-speed MT gearbox while the turbocharged petrol gets two transmission choices, either a 5-speed MT or a CVT unit.
Nissan has equipped the Magnite with some highlight features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, LED headlamps, LED DRLs, rear AC vents. On the top-spec variants, the Nissan offers a Tech Pack including wireless charger, air purifier, JBL speakers, ambient lighting, and puddle lamps. In terms of safety, Nissan Magnite is provided with dual front airbags, rear parking sensor, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control and hill launch control. Recently, India-made Nissan Magnite gained a worth-praising four-star rating at the Asian NCAP crash test.
