Skoda Kodiaq Scout is reported to be launched in India with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. This variant will be more off-road-capable than the regular model.

It is reported that Skoda will carry the Kodiaq Scout variant to the India shores later this year. The premium SUV debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017 and it will join the current India-spec ange as the third variant after Style and the Laurin Klement trims. Skoda Kodiaq Scout India launch date will fall in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The Scout is tuned to fit the off-road scenario. It comes with a higher ground clearance that leverages the off-road capability of the vehicle. Other specs are also adjusted to take a leap in terms of off-road ability. For instance, the ramp, approach and departure angles now measure at 19.7 degrees, 22.0 and 23.1 degrees respectively. Especially, the Scout will now come with multiple driving modes including six different modes, namely, Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, and Snow. It is not the end yet: Another off-road mode is also available. This feature will allow the vehicle to hold when going downhill or ascending.

Alongside, it also gets a more rugged and pronounced exterior. The look is now accentuated by the use of anthracite finish on the alloy wheels, rear window and side window trims. Besides, the silver garnish is inserted on the roof rails, the ORVM units and the side window trim.

On the inside, a new Rough-Road package is added. This new feature will shield the underbody parts including the engines, gearbox, and fuel pipe and other electric parts against damage. On the feature front, the Kodiaq Scout shares a lot in common with the Style’s features package. It also has LED headlamps, ESC, nine airbags, keyless entry, engine start/stop button, and electrically adjustable seats. Badges that distinguish the models are placed at the glove compartment and the seats cover.

India-bound Skoda Kodiaq Scout will only come with diesel engine only

Under the hood, internationally, the Skoda Kodiaq Scout is available with three engine options, including a 150 PS 1.4-litre TSI petrol, 180 PS 2.0-litre TSI petrol, 150 PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel and 190 PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox. All of the powertrain options come with the all-wheel-drive system. When arriving in the India market, the options range will be narrowed down. It might share the existing 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that is currently powering the Style and L&K variant. The 7-speed DSG transmission will be responsible for the transmission tasks. The current Skoda Kodiaq portfolio is only available with diesel engine only. Possibly, in the following year, it will welcome a new petrol engine.
