Suzuki Swift Sport Katana Limited Edition Looks Drool-worthy

Maruti Swift has been one of the most popular hatchbacks in India for a long time now. It was introduced in 2005, and ever since, it has been the first to come to mind when Indian car customers consider buying an affordable car for daily driving. The recent model of Swift was launched in 2018, and it continues to be a hit in the automobile market. It has become the fastest Indian car to pass the one lakh bookings mark. Almost one decade and a half after its debut, Maruti Swift remains to be the segment-leading or even the market-leading model in India.

Suzuki even sells a Sport version of the Swift in various markets. However, regardless of its colossal success in India and growing anticipation for this version, Maruti hasn’t thought about offering the Swift Sport here. Instead, our market might only get the performance-oriented RS variant which will be powered by the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine from the Baleno RS.

Suzuki Swift Sport Katana is a limited version with only 30 units for sales

Recently, Suzuki introduced a special version of the Swift Sport in the Netherlands. On this special edition, the Japanese carmaker incorporates the body of the Swift Sport with the design clues from its iconic Katana motorcycle. While Swift is a household name in the Indian market, many might have no idea of the Katana. In fact, the Katana nameplate has just been brought back to life in 2019 after a long break of over a decade. This model used to enjoy good sales since its debut in 1981 until discontinuation in 2006.

Suzuki Swift Sport Katana Limited Edition is limited to only 30 units. Haft of this are painted in Premium Silver colour scheme while the others use Super Black Pearl theme. These two exterior paint schemes are inspired by Katana’s design. Moreover, each model will get numbered on the rear window frame and also on the seat upholstery. Racy black stripes are added to the front bonnet. One highlight of the front face is the sporty red accent inserted on the front grille.

Mechanically, to boost the performance, the car features adjustable sport suspension, decreased ride height and a sport exhaust. Alongside, it also comes with light-weight 18-inch OZ wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres as optional offers. In terms of features, it gets adaptive cruise control, automatic AC, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, leather upholstery, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The interior design put a strong emphasis on the sportiness with red stitching highlights.
