New Suzuki XL7 Is A Maruti XL6 With An Extra Seat

Suzuki XL7 7-seater MPV is based on the India-spec Maruti XL6, but the XL7 carries subtle cosmetic changes along with offering an extra seat

Maruti XL6-based XL7 was recently introduced in Indonesia. Visually, the new car looks almost identical to its Indian sibling. It gets stylish machine-cut multi-spoke alloy wheels, door visors and sporty looking rear spoiler with integrated stop lamp. The Indonesian-spec XL7 has orange colour as its signature paint shade, which is not available with the India-spec XL6.

The new MPV will be offered in three different trim levels namely- Zeta, Alpha and Beta

Another difference between both these two models is that the Indo-spec XL7 is also offered in dual-tone colour shade with contrasting black roof. Inside, the MPV gets an all-black cabin, and it looks almost identical to that of the India-spec XL6. The major difference between both these MPVs is that the second row of Maruti XL7 gets bench seat to accommodate 7-passengers at once.

On the other hand, the second row of Maruti XL6 features two captain seats, which are comfortable enough for two passengers. In Indonesia, the XL7 is offered in three different trim levels namely- Zeta, Alpha and Beta. The MPV will get standard features like LED headlights, faux carbon fibre pattern on the dashboard, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, LED rear combination, lamps, roof rails, rear charging outlets and armrest.

Safety features like ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, reverse parking sensors, driver and passenger airbags and reverse parking camera will be standard fitment. Mechanically, the Suzuki XL7 derives power from the K15B 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which puts out 104.7 PS of power at 6000 rpm and 138 Nm of twisting force at 4400 rpm. Transmission duties are be done by a 5-speed MT or either a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
