The Tata Nexon has always been among the more powerful vehicles in its category. Now, in a recent development, we have realized that the official website for Nexon states that the Maruti Vitara Brezza rival’s 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine now produces 120 PS as opposed to 110 PS on the pre-facelift model.

While more power is always a good thing, especially for automobile enthusiasts, such changes are usually announced pretty clearly by carmakers. As for the Tata Nexon, the change wasn’t announced by the company, but was a rather silent update introduced during the launch of the BSVI-compliant, facelift model. This turbo-petrol engine is now the most powerful petrol mill in Tata’s line-up, even more powerful than the Tiago and Tigor JTP (114 PS on both). Not only that, but it is now more powerful than Hyundai Venue's 1.0-litre mill and Mahindra XUV300's turbo-petrol option. In fact, even though the Kia Seltos is positioned a segment above, its 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor belts out 115 PS, which less than what the new Nexon can offer.

The current Tata Nexon is offered with two engine options. We have a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 110 PS and 260 Nm, which are the same as those of the previous, BS4-compliant version. The second is the aforementioned 1.2-litre petrol engine with 120 PS and 170 Nm on tap. Both the engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT.

The 2020 Tata Nexon facelift now has a much more aggressive look than its predecessor. The headlamps are now sleeker as opposed to the bulbous units of before, the front grille is also redesigned. The alloy wheels are also new, with 8-spoke design. The taillamp design is also the same, although the new model gets LEDs instead of conventional bulbs.

The equipment list is also quite extensive here, like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, cruise control, a new electronic sunroof, automatic headlights, etc. Safety, of course, is of paramount importance here, in line with the pre-facelift version. You get ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, corner stability control, seatbelt reminder, door-open warning, rear parking camera, seatbelt pretensioners, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
