The 2021 Tata Tiago NRG will carry the same silhouette with the Tiago facelift but with a lot of SUV-inspired design elements.

Tata Tiago has been one of the most popular hatchback cars among Tata’s stablemates. The best-selling Tata car in India registers good sales number in the market month in month out but that’s not the case for its crossover version – the Tiago NRG. When Tata launched the updated Tiago in India last year, the company also took the NGR off its shelves. However, according to some recent reports, Tata is set to bring back the Tiago NRG with a BS6-compliant engine option. The Tata Tiago NRG facelift is expected to be launch very soon this year.

In fact, we already spotted the new Tiago NRG on its test mule for quite a while back that gives us a glimpse of how the updated crossover-ish hatchback would look like. The exterior of the Tiago NRG is based on the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy and gets a host of tweaks to match the Tata Tiago facelift. However, the 2021 Tata Tiago NRG will likely receive some crossover-inspired elements like higher ground clearance, black plastic cladding, roof rails along with 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the 2021 Tata Tiago NRG will borrow the same interior design and features from the regular Tiago hatchback. It will be equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4-speaker Harman sound system, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, reverse parking camera together with a fully-digital instrument cluster.

Powering the upcoming Tata Tiago NRG facelift will be the same 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine seen in the Tiago and Tigor. This mill is capable of generating 84 HP of power and 1143 Nm of torque and can come mated to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT option. There are some rumours that Tata could introduce the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine sourced from the upcoming Altroz Turbo in the Tiago NRG but the chance is not very high. Do note that the carmaker had previously plonked this turbo-petrol motor in the Tiago and Tigor JTP but it was then discontinued due to the poor sales performance.

The 2021 Tata Tiago NRG is likely to be launched during the H2 of this year. The expected price of the Tiago NRG is in between Rs 4.8 – 7 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom).
