Tata Motors has launched a new automatic variant of its hatchback, the Tiago, in the Indian market. The new variant makes it the fourth automatic option in Tiago’s line-up and should help it attract new buyers. The new variant is called the XTA AMT, and it is now the cheapest automatic Tiago you can buy at a price tag of Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The XZA variant was the most affordable automatic in the Tiago’s lineup before, coming in at Rs 6.46 lakh. Tata’s smallest hatchback’s pricing otherwise remains the same, ranging from Rs 4.85 lakh for the base trim to Rs 6.84 lakh for the range-topping trim. The Tiago competes against the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Ford Figo and the Maruti Suzuki Swift in the Indian market.
Tata keeps giving the Tiago regular updates with new features which keeps the hatchback fresh and up-to-date. Just recently the brand had launched a limited edition version of the hatchback which was based on the mid-level XT variant and comes with three new colours - Flame Red, Daytona Grey, and Pearlescent White. The limited-edition model also gets 14-inch alloy wheels, finished in a shade of black, and they look similar to the pre-facelift model's design.
Over to the interior, there’s a new 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features voice-command recognition, reversing camera display and 3D navigation via Navimaps. The top trim levels get even more features like bigger 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, rear defogger with wiper, an 8 speaker audio setup from Harman, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, semi-digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, and a cooled glovebox among other. The AMT gearbox variants also come with a ‘Sport’ mode and creep function.
The Tata Tiago is one of the safest vehicles you can buy in the segment. It has a 4-star adult crash test safety rating from Global NCAP and comes with safety features like dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control, high-speed alert system, front seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors along with a reverse parking camera. Tata Motors offers the Tiago with the choice of only one engine currently. It is a 1.2-litre 3-pot petrol motor, which makes 85 PS of peak power and 113 Nm of max torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
