Mahindra & Mahindra recently launched the new-gen Thar in India. The 2020 model of the SUV got popular among the buyers for its modern looks and off-road capabilities. To check the capabilities of a vehicle, enthusiasts around the country conduct different tests and tug-of-war is one of them. But, the biggest drawback of this test is that it can damage the vehicle. Here’s a recent video in which the new-gen Mahindra Thar 4X4 has been put against the Mahindra XUV500 AWD in a tug-of-war competition. Watch the video embedded below to know the amazing results.
This video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel named as Zeryeen11. All the trims of 2020 Mahindra Thar are offered with 4X4 system as standard. This video shows both the vehicles in a tug of war. In the first round, Mahindra Thar has seen pulling the XUV500 towards itself, but unfortunately, the rope via both the vehicles was connected snaps leaving the results inconclusive. In the second round, the same rope was used again to join both the vehicle. This time as soon as the tug of war was started, Mahindra XUV500 AWD started pulling the Mahindra Thar towards itself. This tug of war test between both the cars was baseless because it did not show accurate results.
Moreover, the Mahindra Thar in this video was in 2WD mode. The Mahindra XUV500 AWD comes with an intelligent drive, which means after the vehicle senses slip of the wheels, it’ll end power to that axle. It always remains active at slow speed and gets disengaged as soon as the SUV gains speed. Talking about the Mahindra off-roader, it has three different modes namely- 4X2, 4X4 High and 4X4 Low. Mechanically, it derives power from a petrol and diesel engine, which comes coupled to a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It gets retailed at a starting price of Rs 9.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level variant.
