Annoyed Bengal Tiger Tries to Damage Mahindra Xylo

A recent video of Bannerghatta National Park, Bengaluru has been surfaced on the internet, where a Bengal Tiger can be seen pulling an SUV. The video is around 1.5 minutes long, and it shows how a powerful tiger can be. One can see in the video, that the tiger was trying to pull the rear bumper of Mahindra Xylo with his sharp teeth, but before that, he pulled the whole SUV towards himself. The tiger also tires to scratch the car. Passengers were sitting inside Mahindra Xylo and were on a jungle safari. The kerb weight of Mahindra Xylo is 1875 kg, and there six passengers sitting inside the SUV.

So, the tiger was almost pulling around 2 tonnes of weight. The battery of the SUV was dead that’s why it was not able to start, and because of the tiger outside, occupants could not get out and push start it. The Executive Director of the Bannerghatta Biological Park, Mr Vanashree Vipin Singh, said “The vehicle was static for a while due to battery issues and the driver could not start it again. As the vehicle was stranded, the tiger out of curiosity approached and played with the vehicle. Later, the vehicle was towed safely by our rescue team.” 

This video is around two months old. Always take necessary precaution whenever you go on a jungle safari. Talking about Mahindra Xylo, it is now discontinued by the carmaker in the Indian market. It was discontinued from our market back in July 2019 because of the stricter crash safety standards and BS-IV emission norms. Mechanically, the Toyota SUV was powered by 2.2-litre petrol and 2.5-litre diesel engine. The former develops 120bhp of power and 280 Nm of torque, while the latter is capable of shredding out power and torque outputs of 95bhp and 220 Nm. Transmission duties were done by a 5-speed MT as standard. Dimensionally, the Mahindra Xylo was 4520mm long, 1850mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2760mm.
