Cricketer Shubman Gill’s Family Receives Mahindra Thar on His Behalf

Cricketer Shubman Gill received the brand new Mahindra Thar as a gift from Anand Mahindra. He got the LX hardtop version of the Mahindra off-roader.

Early this year, the Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra Group, Mr Anand Mahindra announced that he will be gifting 6 Mahindra Thar SUVs to debutants in the Indian cricket team. He had decided to offer this gift to the cricketers for their exceptionally good performance in the India-Australia test series. One of the six cricketers who received the new-gen Mahindra Thar was Shubman Gill. He recently got the all-new Mahindra off-roader. The cricketer has recently shared pictures of his parents and sister taking delivery of the 2020 Mahindra Thar on Twitter. He was not present to receive the car as he is currently busy playing Indian Premier League 2021.

On Twitter, Shubman Gill writes, “It’s a great feeling to receive the Mahindra Thar, and I wish, I was there to collect this beast. Anand Mahindra sir I am grateful and a big thank you to you for this gesture. Playing for India has been an honour, and I will strive to give my best every time I step out on the field.”

Other than Shubman Gill, Shradhul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, Mohammad Siraj, and T Natarajan are the five cricketers who received the brand new Mahindra Thar. Shubman Gill has got the LX hardtop version of the SUV. He has not shared the engine and gearbox details of his Mahindra Thar in the Tweet. The new-gen Mahindra Thar quickly became popular among the buyers for its modern looks, feature-loaded cabin and off-road capabilities. Right now, it is the most capable 4X4 SUV one can get in the Indian market.

Talking about the new-gen Mahindra Thar, it derives power from 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former develops power and torque outputs of 150 Bhp and 320 Nm, while the latter is capable of shredding out 130 Bhp of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It gets retailed at a starting price of Rs 12.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
