The Jeep Compass is one of the most capable SUVs on sale in India under Rs 30 lakh. Check out this video of a Compass in a tug of war against a Kia Seltos.
The Jeep Compass is the most affordable offering from the US-based automaker’s portfolio in India. Is it also one of the few SUVs under Rs 30 lakh that comes with an AWD system, making it a formidable off-roader. The Compass just received a mid-life refresh earlier this year which gives the SUV a new revised front-end and more importantly a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Today we came across this video of a Compass having a tug of war competition against a Kia Seltos.
The video has been uploaded by Arun Panwar on YouTube where Jeep Compass and a Kia Setos are pitted against each other in a tug of war. The first two rounds take place on a soft surface which sees both the SUVs getting bogged down. For the next three rounds, the tug of war takes place in a newly constructed stretch of road. Each of the three rounds is won handily by the Compass as it pulled the Seltos easily. This was a given considering the Compass’ 2-litre diesel produces 55 PS and 100 Nm more than the Seltos’ 1.5-litre diesel
The Kia Seltos is available with 3 engine choices of two petrol and one diesel. The petrol 1.5-litre 4 cylinder produces 115 PS and144 Nm of peak power and torque figures and can be paired with a manual or IVT transmission while the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol makes 140 PS and 242 Nm max power and torque which comes mated with a manual or a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5-litre turbo-diesel churns out power and torque figures 115 PS and 250 Nm respectively and you have the option of either a manual or an auto transmission. Prices for the Kia Seltos range from Rs 9.89 lakh – Rs 17.45 lakh.
Prices for the updated Jeep Compass price range from Rs 16.99 lakh – Rs 28.29 lakh. The Compass has a choice of 1 diesel and 1 petrol engine. The 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel churns out of 170 PS/350 Nm and it can be optioned with either a 6-speed manual or a newer 9-speed auto transmission. The petrol engine option is a 1.4-litre 4-pot turbo unit that makes 161 PS/250 Nm and is available with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic.
