Here, we have a digital illustration of a Mahindra XUV300 in a coupe-styled body, much like the Mahindra XUV Aero Concept car showcased at 2016 Auto Expo.

Mahindra & Mahindra is one automaker that isn’t afraid of innovation. Mahindra XUV300 is perhaps the biggest example of this, being the safest car to be manufactured in India. Even before that, we have seen plenty of Mahindra cars that were perhaps a bit too bold for their times but were brilliant on their own. The KUV100 and its three-seater front row come to mind. Mahindra has also showcased plenty of outlandish concept cars, which have inspired numerous digital artists to design their own. Here, we have a digitally rendered XUV300 Coupe that looks utterly brilliant.

The pictures we see here have been illustrated by INITIA Designs, a design studio based in Pune. In these rendered pictures, we can see the resemblance of the concept car with the regular XUV300, but we also notice plenty of differences. The headlights are now much sleeker and there is an LED DRL strip running horizontally on top of the front grille from one side to the other. The downward swooping LEDs and the adjoining foglamps have been removed. The front bumper is completely new and has a large air dam in the centre.

At the sides, we notice one of the biggest changes to the silhouette. The rear section has a tapering roofline, much like a coupe. Other than that, we see extremely smooth bodywork. There aren’t even any door handles on the car. It wears a set of giant alloy wheels with low-profile rubber. The design of the wheels features a very unique design with alternating patterns of spokes, and they also seem to have a dual-tone machine-cut finish.

At the rear, we see a single LED strip running horizontally from one end to the other, functioning as a taillight. There are two small brake lights on the roof-mounted spoiler as well. The rear bumper is quite high and has a diffuser in the middle, mirroring the air dam at the front. Overall, we feel like this design belongs to a car of the future, not the present!

We’d love to see Mahindra come up with a real-life example of such a car. Previously, there was a Mahindra XUV Aero concept, showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. During the 2020 Auto Expo, there was an even wilder concept car, called the Mahindra Funster, which was essentially a two-seater open-top roadster based on the XUV500. As such, this concept drawing by INITIA designs seems right up Mahindra’s alley.
