Maruti Baleno Breaks National Record, Covers Nearly 1900 Kms In 24 Hours

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is one of the highest-selling premium hatchbacks in India currently, and now it has set a national record as well. It has entered the Indian Book of Records for covering the maximum distance in 24 hours. Driven by Pranjal Singh, the Baleno covered 1,883.9 kilometres in 24 hours. The record was made on February 24, 2021, when he was travelling solo. Prior to this, the record belonged to Devjeet Saha and his Tata Altroz which travelled 1,603 kilometres in 24 hours.

Speaking of the Maruti Baleno, it was launched in 2016 and is sold exclusively sold by the automaker’s premium retail chain, NEXA. It is a great buy if you’re looking for a spacious interior, feature-packed trims, great reliability and a worry-free after-sales experience. The Baleno is offered in four trim levels, namely the Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Maruti’s premium hatchback is packed with features like LED projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED tail lamps, auto-folding ORVMs, front foglamps, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, automatic headlamps, rear parking sensors with reversing parking camera, keyless entry, push-button to start/stop, Smart Key, auto climate control and more. There is also a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Maruti Baleno comes with two powertrain options, both 1.2-litre petrol units. The K series motor churns out 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque while the Dualjet engine produces max power and torque 90 PS and 113 Nm, respectively. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a CVT auto. The Dualjet engine comes with Smart Hybrid tech which enables the Baleno to have an idle start/stop feature that gives it an ARAI rated fuel efficiency figure of 23.87 kmpl.

Prices for the Maruti Baleno range from Rs 5.90 lakh for the base Sigma trim, and goes up to Rs 9.10 lakh for the Alpha CVT variant. It competes with the likes of the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and the Toyota Glanza in its segment. Do-note all prices are ex-showroom.
