The Maruti Swift Dzire vs Honda Civic- Which one can undercut its rivals if they're pitted against each other in a mind-blowing drag race? Find out here.

For a long time, drag races between vehicles have been known as a deciding factor when speaking about the cars’ performance and speed. Over time, drag race has translated into a sport of its kind in which cars from various brands are pitted against each other to see how they perform and figure out the winner. A YouTuber named Sanjeet Jaat also did just that with two popular vehicles in India. The video below is about the aggressive drag race between the Swift Dzire and Honda Civic. Let’s take a look to see which one can defeat its competitor during the run.

The results of the race are, in truths, not what you might have already expected. Both the vehicles here are the older-gen models, that’s why we’re calling the Dzire as the Swift Dzire. The drag race is conducted with a total of three rounds and interestingly, all of which are won by the Maruti Suzuki’s candidate.

Speaking of the cars’ specifications, the Maruti Swift Dzire, as the winner here, comes with a powerful diesel engine mated to a manual gearbox. The sub-four-metre Maruti sedan derives the power from a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MultiJet turbocharged diesel motor that is capable of putting out 74 BHP of max power and 190 Nm of peak torque and comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Maruti Swift Dzire tips the scales at 1,045 kilograms.

Whereas the old-gen Honda Civic weighs around 1,210 kg that is 165 kg heavier than the Maruti counterpart. The Honda sedan seen in the video gets a 1.8-litre in-line four-cylinder gasoline engine which can pump out a maximum power of 130 BHP and a decent torque of 172 Nm. This mill is also coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox that takes the duties of sending the power output to the front wheels.

Quite apparently, given the above mechanical details and specs, we could immediately jump into a conclusion that Honda Civic triumphs over the Maruti Swift Dzire on the number perspectives. However, the outcome in practice is vice versa, unexpectedly. Speaking about the reason behind, it is worth noting that this Honda Civic looks more like a car of advanced years than the Maruti Dzire counterpart. It gets an odometer reading over 1.2 lakh km of mileage that means it’s quite long in the tooth.

While the Honda Civic has done such a large distance, it’s not in its best status with the engine and other mechanical components being less efficient. Furthermore, the Maruti Swift Dzire, albeit being less powerful than the Civic, it is lighter than the latter by a big margin which gives it a competitive edge over the Civic adversary. Finally, the driver’s skills are also an important factor affecting the result of the drag race.
