Maruti Swift Facelift Digitally Rendered

The 2020 Suzuki Swift (facelift) was recently revealed in Japan. Since its global launch in 2016, the fourth-generation Suzuki Swift (or third-generation Maruti Swift in India) has remained absolutely unchanged. The mid-life refresh features minor aesthetic changes to the exterior of the car. We expect a similar facelift for the Maruti Swift as well. Earlier this year, the Dzire had also received a minor facelift, so an update for the Swift might also be on the cards. Here, we have a digital rendering that depicts what the India-spec model might look like.

The video above, posted on the YouTube channel ‘NM tunes’, shows a digital rendering of the Swift facelift. The video starts with a stock image of the current Swift. The artist begins by changing the design of the front-end of the car. The under-lip design of the front bumper is replaced by a small air dam and new foglamp housings. The front grille is enlarged, and gets a chrome outline, much like the new Dzire, but with a different mesh design. After that, the alloy wheels get a new five-spoke design. After that, a few final touches are added to the image like the chrome inserts for the foglamp housings. Overall, the rendering looks extremely impressive.

Apart from speculating about the looks of the new car, we’re also speculating here about its mechanicals. Expected under the hood of the Swift facelift is the 1.2-litre ‘dual-jet’ engine. This naturally aspirated, inline-4, petrol powerplant can generate a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm. There’s a possibility that this motor might be offered only on the top-trim variants, just like on the Baleno. The base variants might still get the older 83 PS mill. Also, now that there isn’t a diesel-powered model to choose here, providing at least a mild-hybrid option would be a smart strategy by Maruti.

There have been reports that Maruti might be bringing the Swift hybrid to India soon, the one with the claimed fuel economy of 32-kmpl. That would certainly be a great attraction from Indian car buyers. That said, we might have to wait quite a while longer for that, as the current market situation has made it harder to introduce any new vehicle at the moment.
