Specifically, the 4.8-litre V8 turbo oil burners which previously serves as the power sources for the outgoing Land Cruiser will give way to the new 3.5-litre V6 turbo-petrol motor and a 3.3-litre V6 turbo diesel unit. The former is likely to come with a hybrid or plug-in hybrid technology for improved fuel mileage and a lower amount of emissions.

The new-gen Toyota Land Cruiser is expected to focus more on off-road capabilities than luxury. However, this would only be the case in selected markets such as the USA. In India, the USV will keep its premiumness to attract luxury auto buyers.
