The Toyota Land Cruiser, thanks to its decent off-roading capabilities and bulletproof reliability, is one of the most popular SUVs of global auto customers. The new-gen model is anticipated to be an improvement over that; therefore, it has been making the global audience excited. The Japanese automaker is reported to debut the new-gen Land Cruiser (LC300 series) in April 2021. In the meanwhile, the current-gen Land Cruiser has been discontinued in several international markets and will be totally phased out at the beginning of next year.

Surprisingly, the 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser will not be supported by Toyota’s new F1 body-on-frame platform. The current platform will be carried over from the current model to the next-gen model. Having said that, the SUV will come with new powertrain options and drivetrains as well as numerous alterations to the suspension.

Specifically, the 4.8-litre V8 turbo oil burners which previously serves as the power sources for the outgoing Land Cruiser will give way to the new 3.5-litre V6 turbo-petrol motor and a 3.3-litre V6 turbo diesel unit. The former is likely to come with a hybrid or plug-in hybrid technology for improved fuel mileage and a lower amount of emissions.

The new-gen Toyota Land Cruiser is expected to focus more on off-road capabilities than luxury. However, this would only be the case in selected markets such as the USA. In India, the USV will keep its premiumness to attract luxury auto buyers.

The Japanese automaker has discontinued the production of the Land Cruiser around the beginning of 2020. The SUV was imported to India through the CBU route, which gives it a very high price of INR 1.47 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
