All-new Maruti Celerio is its final stage of testing and is expected to shed veils by next year. But, here's how it would look like.

Maruti Celerio has been in the Indian market for quite some time now, without any major update. However, the carmaker is now working on the new-gen model of the hatchback, which is expected to go on sale by early next year. The final-stage prototypes of the all-new Celerio were recently spotted on test, revealing a lot of details about its design. Based on the recent spy shots, our in-house digital artist – Shoeb R. Kalania has created a digital rendering of the upcoming all-new Maruti Celerio.

In comparison to the current-gen model, the new-gen Celerio in the rendering looks chic and would attract a lot of praises from the Indian audience for its design. On the front, it gets new upswept headlamps, chrome-finished radiator grille, and a revised bumper with vertically-stacked fog lamp housings and a lot of sharp creases. From the front-end, the new-gen Celerio looks inspired by its bigger siblings – Swift and Baleno.

Moving over to the sides, the new-gen Celerio will sport a revised silhouette that would accentuate its appeal around the audience. The tall-boy stance will be gone for a rather sportier one. Also, it is likely to come with a set of diamond-cut alloy wheels as seen on the test mule. Although, the low-end trims will continue to come with steel rims. On the insides, the new-gen Celerio will get a revised design for the interior. The dashboard layout will be new, and as revealed in the spy shots, it is inspired by the WagonR's.

In the new-gen iteration, the Celerio will be underpinned by the Maruti’s lightweight Heartect architecture. But, it will continue to source power from the existing 1.0L K10B 3-pot petrol motor. It is capable of putting out a rated power output of 67 PS at 6,000 rpm and max torque of 90 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The transmission options will comprise of a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. Maruti will also offer the option of a factory-fitted CNG on the new-gen model.  It is expected to go on sale at a starting price of around Rs. 4.50 lakh. Once launched, the all-new Celerio will rival the likes of Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro and more.
