Check out this video, which tests the mileage of the Renault Kiger's turbo-petrol engine with the much-appreciated tank-to-tank method. Watch it here.
The Renault Kiger has been off to a successful start in the Indian market after being launched a month ago. It has already entered the top-ten selling compact SUVs in the country, even beating its mechanical twin the Nissan Magnite which was launched only a few months ago. The Kiger is also the most affordable compact SUV you can buy currently, and undercuts most of its segment rivals by Rs 1 lakh or more for equivalent trims. Today we came across this mileage test of the Renault Kiger's Turbo variant.
The video has been uploaded by Amar Daryan on YouTube in which they have a new Renault Kiger Turbo for a mileage test. It is a tank to tank test, i.e, the vehicle is filled up to the brim, and then driven in different conditions. Following this, it is filled up again and then the mileage is calculated on the basis of how much fuel is consumed. On the highway, at speeds of 80 kmph, the Kiger’s MID displays an economy figure of 23.2 kmpl, which drops to 22 kmpl when speed rise to 105 kmph. In city conditions, the economy displayed by the MID remains at a constant 22.4 kmpl. After driving around for close to 100 km, the Kiger is filled up again and the mileage is calculated, which results in a fuel economy of 21.3 kmpl. This is very impressive considering it was being driven in Sport mode for the whole duration and the turbo-engine makes 100 PS of peak power.
The Renault Kiger comes loaded with features like tri-beam LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED taillights, dual-tone alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, keyless entry, wireless phone charging, and steering mounted controls and more.
The Renault Kiger comes with the option of 2 petrol engines - 1.0L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol. The 1-litre naturaaly-aspirated 3-pot unit makes 72 PS and 96 Nm of peak power and torque figures, respectively. It is mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. In turbocharged form, the engine makes figures of 100PS and 160 Nm with the 5-speed manual and 100 PS/152 Nm when paired to the CVT box. Prices for the Renault Kiger start from Rs 5.45 lakh, going up to Rs 9.72 lakh for the range-topping trim.
