The main functions of the RTO offices in India remain the same under the MVA, 1988 nationwide. The primary functions of the RTO offices in Hyderabad are listed below:
Issue different types of driving license such as learner’s license, permanent driving license, renewal of driver’s license, duplicate or addition of class in the driving license, international driving license, etc.
Issue Registration Certificate and other related services such as temporary vehicle registration, trade certificate, permanent registration, renewal/duplicate of RC and ownership transfer

3. Types of Driving License Issued by RTO offices in Hyderabad
The Hyderabad RTO issues driving license and permits for six types of vehicles which are listed out below:
Motorcycle with engine capacity of/ less than 50 cc: like in other cities, the applicant for motorcycle with engine capacity of/less than 50 cc must be 16 or above and should have the consent letter from his/her parents or guardians.
Motorcycle with gear: The applicant must be at the age of 18 or above. The application must include all valid required documents as regulated by the RTO.
Two-wheelers without gear: this type of driving license is issued for moped bikes or two-wheelers without gear.
Heavy commercial vehicle: The applicants must be at the age of 18 or above, 8th-class qualified and get driving training certification from the registered training school under the state government.
Personal four-wheeler: The applicant must be at 18 or above. The application must cover all valid required documents.
Commercial four-wheeler: The applicant must be 8th-class qualified and be at/over 18 years old with driving training certificate from registered training school under the state government.
Do note that it’s unnecessary for the cab and auto-rickshaw drivers to obtain a separate commercial driving license as their personal LMV license is already legal.
