Tata Altroz iTurbo VS Hyundai i20 Turbo Petrol Specs Comparison

Here’s a small spec comparison between Tata Altroz iTurbo and Hyundai i20 turbo petrol. The prices of Tata Altroz iTurbo are yet to be revealed. 

Tata Motors has recently revealed its new turbo petrol trim of Altroz in the Indian market. In its segment, it now directly competes with the likes of new-gen Hyundai i20 turbo petrol. So, here’s a small spec comparison of both the premium hatchbacks. The new Tata Altroz turbo petrol is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-pot, turbocharged mill, which develops 110 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT. On the other hand, the Hyundai i20 turbo petrol gets propelled by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged motor that produces power and torque outputs of 120 PS and 175 Nm. Transmission duties are done by 7-speed DCT or iMT.

One can see that the Hyundai i20 turbo petrol is much more powerful than the Tata Altroz turbo petrol. Moreover, the turbo petrol trim of Altroz is only offered with a manual transmission, while the i20 is offered with an automatic and clutch pedal-free manual gearbox. In terms of features, the cabin of Tata Altroz iTurbo comes with connected car features.

It gets Harman system, which consists of two more tweeters, while the Hyundai i20 employs a Bose system. It also gets a massive touchscreen infotainment unit, which Hyundai’s latest connected car techs. Among both the premium hatchbacks, Tata Altroz turbo petrol makes more sense as it looks good, comes loaded with a decent amount of features and is likely to cheaper than the Hyundai i20 turbo petrol.

On the other, the Hyundai i20 obviously feels plusher as it offers a premium and feature-loaded cabin along with multiple gearbox options. Tata Motors will soon reveal the price of Altroz iTurbo. It’s quite surprising to see a premium hatchback is not being offered with an automatic transmission. The entry-level trim of Hyundai i20 turbo petrol is priced at Rs 8.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the top-spec variant of the turbo petrol trim goes all the way up to Rs 11.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
