The Tata Tiago is once again in the spotlight for saving all its occupants in a severe accident which took place in Sangli, Maharashtra.

Last year, Rahul Patil and Prashant Nikam sent an email to Tata Motors, expressing their gratitude to the home-grown automaker for manufacturing such a robust vehicle as the Tata Tiago, which saved their lives in a horrific accident in Sangli, Maharashtra. Although the car suffered serious damage, none of the occupants was severely injured. Immediately, the mail caught the attention of Internet users.

Moreover, in the email, the owner of the Tata Tiago also stated his commitment to the brand in the future,

”I would like to thank you again a million times. I assure you I will be forever with TATA team for the endless hours that you have spent working on such safe & robust cars. I hope you will continue to strive for safety forever and touch the lives of the common people like us.”

Among all the models from the domestic carmaker, the Tata Tiago has recorded the largest sales number for quite some time now. The company also introduced the crossover NRG variant and the performance JTP version of the Tiago but both the models have been shelved owing to the poor demand.

The Tiago has also received its mid-life facelift, with which, it has got a restyled front bumper and an update grille. Safety features like the driver side airbag, high-speed warning system, seatbelt reminder, automatic door locks and reverse parking sensors have been made standard across the trim line.

Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and AMT units. Earlier, the hatchback was even sold with a 1.05-litre diesel engine option that was good for 70PS at 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 1,800-3,000 rpm. However, it was discontinued owing to the low demand making it infeasible for the company to update it to achieve compliance with BSVI norms.
