Indian audience has a special place for SUVs. Therefore, the Indian automobile market has got SUVs in different shapes, sizes, and segments. However, the big-brawny Toyota Fortuner holds an important position in this context. It is one of the most capable SUVs that are currently on sale in India. It is a little expensive though, as the prices start at Rs. 28.86 lakh and go all the way up to Rs. 34.43 lakh. The Fortuner is a ladder-on-frame SUV. Thus, it is highly capable off the road. However, here in this video, it can be seen competing with smaller but more premium and expensive Land Rover Discovery Sport. This video was uploaded on YouTube by Sanjeet Jaat on his channel.

In the video, the Fortuner and Discovery Sport can be seen drag racing together. To keep the competition fair, the race comprises of two attempts. In the first attempt, the cheaper Fortuner takes the lead, but Discovery Sport continues to inch forward and close on the gap. However, in the second run, the Fortuner again has a lead over the Discovery Sport initially, but this time, the Discovery Sport was able to close on the gap. It also reached the finish line before the Fortuner did. It can be concluded that Fortuner is equally potent as the Discovery Sport in terms of outright acceleration, but the Disco has an edge over the Fortuner once it starts to pick up the pace.
