While in 2019, a wide range of big premium luxury cars got updated, this year, the entry-level luxury segment is expected to thrive with many new vehicles. Here is a list of upcoming luxury cars in India in 2020, along with details on their expected prices, specs, interior features and more. 

New Audi A8

The fourth-gen Audi A8 has been confirmed to be launched in India this year. Like the outgoing model, the new A8 will only be offered in the long-wheelbase version. The new-gen A8, which was debuted in July 2017, will be supported by the brand-new MLB Evo chassis which utilizes carbon-fibre, magnesium, steel and aluminium in its construction. This helps the new car get a much lower weight than the previous model.

The new-gen A8 is expected to experience a considerably upgraded exterior. The cabin will also come with thoroughly altered interior design. The expected new features will include an all-digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen system on the dashboard, another 8.6-inch touchscreen display on the centre console which supports the airconditioning and other comfort functions.

Once launched in India, the 2020 Audi A8 is anticipated to receive its power from a 3.0-litre turbo V6 motors including a petrol and a diesel unit. While the former can generate 286 PS, the latter can deliver 340 PS with one of these receiving mild-hybrid capabilities. The new Audi A8 will compete against the Lexus LS 500h, the Mercedes S-Class and the BMW 7 Series.

New Audi Q8

The next model in our list of Upcoming Luxury Cars In India 2020 is the range-topping SUV in Ingolstadt-based carmaker's portfolio. Audi Q8 launch date has been revealed to be on January 15, 2020. The luxury SUV will be brought to India as a CBU unit so its price is expected to be no less than INR 1 crore (ex-showroom, India).

The India-spec Audi Q8 will be the first model in the "new-look" series of Audi SUVs in India. Some of the unique features of the new Audi Q3 will include frameless doors and a coupe-like roofline. Other outstanding features are expected to include flared wheel arches, full-width tail lamps and LED headlamps.

In terms of the interior, the new Q8 will be inspired by the new A8 with many similar features. The expected feature list of the new Q8 will include Audi's newest dual-touchscreen control system, a 10.1-inch screen in the upper part and an 8.1-inch display for heating, airconditioning and ventilation controls in the lower part.

The India-spec Audi Q8 will be powered by only a petrol motor as a method to make the vehicle fully prepared for the upcoming BS-VI emission standards. A 3.0-litre V6 gasoline burner which can deliver 345 PS will serve as the power source for the new Q8. 

New Audi Q3

The second generation of Audi Q3, which has been available in the international market for more than one year now, is expected to be launched in India this year. However, since the luxury German automaker will save the first quarter for the all-new A8 and the brand-new Q8, the Audi Q3 might come to India later.

Compared with the outgoing model, the new Audi Q3 will be considerably improved in dimensions. Specifically, the latest-gen Q3 is likely to be 4,485 mm long, 1,849 mm wide and 1,585 high with a 2,680 mm wheelbase. The shoulder room, legroom and knee room will also be expanded.

As regards the design and features, the new Audi Q3 will take many design cues from the Audi Q8 with a large octagonal grille, Matrix LED headlights, sharper and bigger LED taillights. The new Q3 will feature a totally new dashboard with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment setup and a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit.

The India-bound Audi Q3 will receive its power from only petrol motors: a 1.5-litre turbo unit with 150 PS/ 250 Nm and a 2.0-litre turbo unit with 190 PS/ 320 Nm. The transmission duties will be undertaken by a 7-seed S-Tronic AT. The Quattro permanent AWD system is expected to be standard in the 2.0-litre motor version.

Facelifted BMW X1

The next model in our list of upcoming luxury cars in India 2020 is the BMW X1, which is one of the oldest compact luxury SUVs in India. The vehicle, after receiving a facelift last year, will be updated again in the first half of 2020.

On the outside, the SUV will experience some minimal alterations which include new polishing LED headlights, a new wider and unified double kidney grille, polishing LED fog lights, new alloy rims and redesigned LED taillights.

In terms of the interior, the changes are also limited with new seat coverings options, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 5.7-inch TFT info display in the instrument console and an optional 6-colour LED ambient lighting system.

The BMW X1 is likely to be introduced to the Indian auto market with two motor options: a 1.5-litre turbo gasoline burner which can deliver 141 PS against 200 Nm and a 2.0-litre oil burner which can generate 190 PS against 400 Nm.

Facelifted Land Rover Discovery Sport

The Land Rover Discovery Sport has served as a substitute for the Land Rover Freelander 2 and has been among the top-selling Land Rover models in India, thanks to the availability of a 7-seater version.

On the outside, the general shape of the vehicle will be kept intact. The exterior changes are expected to include a new front and rear bumper, new lighting pattern and inserts on the taillights and headlights.

In comparison with the exterior, the interior of the Discovery Sport will witness more remarkable alterations with a new steering wheel and dashboard along with a 12.3-inch full TFT instrument console, a new 10.25-inch Touch Pro HD infotainment setup, wireless smartphone charging and massage functionality for the front seats.

This updated Discovery Sport will receive its power from two motor options: a 2.0-litre turbo gasoline burner with 200 PS and a 2.0-litre turbo oil burner with 180 PS. An AWD system and a 9-speed AT will be standard across all the variants.

New Volvo S60

Next in the list of the upcoming luxury cars in India 2020 is the all-new Volvo S60 which made its debut in June 2018. Since the Chinese luxury carmaker will assemble its new S60 in India for competitive pricing right from scratch, the vehicle is slated for launch by March 2020.

The new Volvo S60 will feature a brand-new styling which is inspired by the S80. The new S60 will come with Volvo’s signature ‘Thor hammer’ LED headlights, a concave grille, lengthened side profile and a new boot lid design with polishing taillights. All of these make the new S60 a major breakthrough over the outgoing model in terms of exterior design.

As regards the interior, the Volvo S60 is also likely to experience remarkable changes with a brand-new cabin layout. The new features include a full TFT instrument console, a wider and portrait infotainment system and vertical air conditioning vents. All of these seem to have been borrowed from the XC40.

The new-gen Volvo S60 has been confirmed to be powered by only petrol motors; however, the specifications for India have not been disclosed yet.

Facelifted Audi A4

The fifth-gen Audi A4 has received several facelifts since its launch in India. In the second half of this year, the sedan will be updated once again.

The updated version will get a wider grille, new Matrix LED inserts on the headlights, sportier inserts on the front bumper and wider taillights which are borrowed from the Audi A7.

On the other hand, the cabin of the vehicle will be minimal with only a few new features, one of which will be a new infotainment setup sourced from Volkswagen Group's MIB3 family.

Once launched in India, the new Audi A4 will be available with a 2.0-litre gasoline burner with two states of tunes, 150 PS/270 Nm and 190 PS/320 Nm.
