The Indian auto market has witnessed a tough phase in 2020 as the global Coronavirus pandemic hit our country bitterly. And India’s largest-selling automaker, Maruti Suzuki gets no exception. Not just the dip in car sales caused by the crisis, 2020 was rather an uneventful year for the Indo-Japanese automotive company as apart from launching the petrol-only Vitara Brezza and S-cross models along with some BSVI updates, the carmaker didn’t have any new hit on the show. However, Maruti Suzuki is setting off all its weapons with a slew of launches planned for the year of 2021. Here are all of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in India in 2021, from the much-awaited Maruti Jimny to the next-generation Maruti Celerio.

1. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The Suzuki Jimny has been the talk of the town since last year when Maruti Suzuki brought the Jimny to its pavilion at the Auto Expo held in 2020 Feb. After that, reports of the Jimny entering the Indian market have emerged around the Interwebs multiple times but there’s no official confirmation of the same as yet. However, since the mini off-roader has garnered a huge fanbase in India, it’s highly likely that Maruti Suzuki might launch the 5-door version of the Jimny in India this year. If launched, the price of the Maruti Jimny will be at around Rs 10 lakh upwards (estimated, ex-showroom). The upcoming Maruti car will come to stack up against the likes of 2020 Mahindra Thar and BS6-spec Force Gurkha in the Indian space.

We all know about Maruti Suzuki’s exit from the diesel vehicles path as the carmaker has discontinued all of its diesel-powered cars before the BSVI emission norms kick in. However, the company won’t be giving up on that completely. According to some recent reports, Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the diesel BS6 engine on the Vitara Brezza in 2021, marking one of the most prominent upcoming Maruti car launches this year. It is said that Maruti Suzuki will bring back the 1.5-litre diesel engine option for the Vitara Brezza, of course, in BS6 era. Currently, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is a petrol-only vehicle that draws the power from a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine churning out 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. It is being sold in the price bracket of around Rs 7.34 – 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

3. Maruti Wagon R Electric

The Maruti Wagon R Electric has been one of the most-awaited upcoming Maruti cars in India 2021, given the fact that Maruti Suzuki is yet to have an EV on its portfolio while its rivals Tata and Hyundai are. Therefore, there’s a possibility of the electric Wagon R to be launched in India sometime this year. It’s worth noting that the Maruti Wagon R Electric has been spied testing on the Indian roads multiple times before. The expected price sticker of Rs 7 lakh is speculated for the upcoming Maruti Wagon R EV and further details will be revealed close to its official launch advent.

4. Next-gen Maruti Celerio

The last model in the list of upcoming Maruti cars in India in 2021 is the next-gen Celerio. Despite getting a facelift just a while ago, the first-gen Maruti Celerio has been out there for six years now. Evidently, the Maruti Celerio is set to receive a major generation change this year. The 2021 Maruti Celerio will witness some big changes, probably in the form of the lightweight Heartect platform, additional features, revised engines and a new look. Spy shots of the new-gen Celerio has been surfaced on the media channels recently, signaling how the upcoming Maruti car would look like. There’s a chance of a 1.2-litre 4-cyl petrol engine seen on the Wagon R to power the new Celerio with the power and torque figures of 83 HP and 113 Nm, respectively. Once launched, the all-new Maruti Celero will continue the fight against Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and other models in the same segment.
