The German auto giant has just announced that it will be bringing 4 new SUVs for the Indian market. The customers’ demand for different body styles is on the rise and we look forward to contributing in meeting this growing demand in India with our strong, reliable and sustainable product strategy.” Let’s take a look at the Upcoming VW SUVs in India 2021-
The first model in our list of Upcoming VW SUVs in India 2021 is the Taigun, which is an all-new compact SUV based on the automaker’s made for India MQB-A0-IN platform. The production model will be carrying over most of the design elements of the Taigun Concept which was showcased at the 2020 Delhi AutoExpo. The Taigun is a sibling of the Skoda Kushaq which was just recently globally unveiled, and both SUVs will share the same platform and powertrain options. The Taigun will be powered by a 1-litre TSI petrol which makes 150 PS/175 Nm of peak figures or a 1.5-litre TSI petrol which makes 150 PS/250 Nm of max figures. Transmission options are a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic.
Upcoming VW SUVs in India 2021 - Tiguan
The Volkswagen Tiguan is a 5-seater SUV that used to be on sale in India but was replaced by the Tigua Allspace which is a 7-seater variant of the vehicle. The Tiguan has received a facelift in international markets and it is this model which could be launched in India. The SUV is powered by a 2-litre TFSI petrol engine which produces 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic.
Volkswagen is reportedly bringing the facelifted Tiguan Allspace to India soon. The Allspace is the 7-seater variant of the Tiguan, and though both look fairly similar, the former is longer and taller to accommodate the extra row of seats. It is powered by the same 2-litre TFSI petrol unit which produces 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak power and torque.
The Volkswagen T-Roc has been launched in India previously, but only in limited numbers as being a CBU unit made it very expensive. Even then, the T-Roc’s allocation of 1000 units was sold out within two months of its launch date, March 2020. This has led Volkswagen to decide to bring the T-Roc to India in higher numbers. The T-Roc is priced at Rs 21.32 lakh, ex-showroom. It is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI petrol motor which churns out 150 PS/250 Nm of peak figures and is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic.
