2020 Land Rover Defender Launched in India, Prices Begin at Rs. 69.99 lakh

Land Rover had  launched the Discovery Sport just a few days back, and now there has been another addition to the line-up: the 2020 Land Rover Defender.

The new Defender has been launched at a starting price of Rs. 69.99 lakh for the three-door ‘90’ (short-wheelbase) and Rs. 86.27 lakh for the top-of-the-line five-door ‘110’ (long-wheelbase) version. The car is available in India as a CBU import. There are five trims of the SUV: Base, S, SE, HSE, and First Edition. The complete price list is given below.

The Land Rover Defender 90 measures 4,077 mm in length, 1,791 mm in width, and 2,037 mm in height. The wheelbase of the car is 2,954 mm in length. As for the Defender 110, its length is 4,600mm, width is 1,791 mm, height is 2,134 mm, with a wheelbase 3,226 mm long. There is just one engine option available in the SUV – a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four-cylinder (Ingenium P300) petrol engine that produces 300 PS at 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1,500-4,000 rpm. Similarly, the choices of transmission options are limited to just one, an 8-speed automatic. In line with the SUV’s off-road prowess, you get All-Wheel-Drive system and a twin-speed transfer box as standard fitment.

There is a lot of equipment on offer here, to justify the heavy price tag. You get LED headlights, Sliding panoramic roof, air suspension, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Refrigerated glove compartment, and giant 20-inch alloy wheels. The car also comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with a 380-watt 10 speakers Meridian audio system.
