Take a look at this Toyota Fortuner which has been customised to look like a Lexus LX 570 luxury SUV that costs many times more

People love modifying their cars. Even in India, some people just buy cars and instantly start about adding personal touches to them. Some people go all out and turn their relatively mundane vehicles into head-turning marvels, or better yet, into luxury vehicle lookalikes! Previously, we brought you an example of this, like a replica Ferrari F50 (turned from a Honda City) and a replica Lamborghini Centenario (from a Honda Civic). Now, we have here a lookalike, a Toyota Fortuner turned into a Lexus LX 570!

The video above, posted by YouTube channel ‘Turbo Xtreme’, gives us a walkaround of the Toyota-Fortuner-turned-Lexus-LX. Lexus, you might be aware, is Toyota’s luxury brand, much like Acura is to Honda. All Lexus vehicles are based on Toyota cars, but hit with a dash of luxury. Even the Lexus LX 570 is based on the Toyota Landcruiser, but with more exciting looks and luxurious interior. The Fortuner in question does manage to look the part but has a few differences. We shall go through all the exterior changes in brief here.

The spindle-grille is a signature Lexus design trait

The biggest change to the car is the front grille. Instead of the relatively small (and rather conventional) grille, the SUV now sports a gigantic spindle-shaped grille, a signature Lexus design detail. The logo still remains a Toyota as before, which we appreciate. The fog lamps are also redesigned, as is the front bumper. The headlights, however, remain stock. The side profile shows next to no change, except for the addition of large side-steps and new alloy wheels. The rear remains largely unchanged as well, with additional chrome embellishments, a redesigned rear bumper, and fake chrome-tipped exhausts being the highlight here.

The side and rear profiles have minimal changes

Sadly, we only get a brief glimpse at the interior of the car, which looked simple for the most part. As for the mechanicals, we’re pretty sure the engine has been left untouched. A stock Toyota Fortuner is available with two engine options- a 2.7-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor, and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel unit. The former is good for 165 PS and 245 Nm, while the latter generates 177 PS and 450 Nm. The petrol variants come with a 5-speed manual and a rear-wheel-drive system. The diesel variants can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, and is available in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive formats. Its prices begin from Rs. 28.18 lakh to 33.97 lakh. In comparison, the Lexus LX 570 is powered by a massive 5.7-litre naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine, capable of producing a relaxed 365 PS and 530 Nm, and is priced at Rs. 2.33 crore.

Needless to say, this particular Fortuner is a lookalike, not a replica, as this isn’t an all-out, extensive, part-for-part replacement job. That said, the SUV manages to look extremely premium, while still maintaining its butch and muscular look. For more interesting automotive content and the latest car news, keep following IndianAuto.
