Despite its excellent performance on the tarmacs, these four expensive cars are forced to show their inability on the completely flooded roads in Mumbai.

Luxury branded and high-end vehicles have become a common sight on the Mumbai roads for quite some time now. These vehicles look completely gorgeous on the go until the disastrous Mumbai floods come. In fact, Mumbai has been so notorious for the waterlogging roads every time there’s a downpour. Luxury cars are not meant for flooded roads. These five following expensive cars just found it hard after being stuck in Mumbai’s lashing rains. From the Mercedes-Benz CLA to Porsche Boxster, take a look at four such heart-rending incidents that happened to opulent cars in Mumbai during the bad cases of waterlogging this year.

1. Mercedes-Benz CLA

Mercedes-Benz cars have come amid much fanfare in the Indian market. Driving in a luxury-branded car like Mercedes has not only a simple mean of transport but also a status symbol that might reflect your wealth and social status. A lot of wealthy people in India has chosen Mercedes cars, especially the Mercedes-Benz CLA as their favourite daily drive. However, this car just did that well before it started to rain cats and dogs in Mumbai yesterday. The CLA did not have much to do when it came across the fully-flooded roads in the city. As can be seen from the video, its hazard lamps were still switched on but the vehicle seemed to be hydro-locked and stood there in the middle of the downpour. That said, the driver should have nothing to do without waiting for the water level to reduce and have the car towed to the nearest workshop.

2. Mercedes-Benz SLC

As always, we would want to avoid driving into deep water, no matter how capable your engine is. However, there might not be another option at times. This Mercedes-Benz SLC got no exception, too. Being an expensive car with high capacity engine and complicated electronic bits, the SLC failed to “sail” through the floods and needed several people to help it get out of the area. Again, the Mercedes-Benz SLC proved that true, almost the luxurious and fashionable vehicles are not designed to be amphibious cars, really.

3. Jaguar XF

True, the Jaguar XF may be a brilliant tarmac-tearing sedan on the roads, but not the floods. An evolutionary sedan with a spacious comfort-focused cabin and a good engine is what we know about the Jaguar XF. However, it should a bit ashamed for the luxurious saloon yesterday as the car was caught getting completely stuck in the middle of a flooded underpass while a Mahindra Bolero pick-up truck drove through it as easy as a pie. The Mahindra Bolero is not an off-roader though, it gets a torquey engine and high ground clearance that aids much in this case. Someone has recorded the deed and the video has gone viral on social media in recent days.

4. Porsche Boxster S

The German marque, Porsche is known as a luxury performance-oriented sports car manufacturer whose models have become a true icon in the automotive world. The Porsche Boxster is quite an example. However, legendary cars can’t do much in the sudden torrential rains in Mumbai, indeed. Here’s a Porsche Boxster S that was fully stopped by the waterlogged roads in the city yesterday. Understandably, such sports cars are known for having very low ground clearance, so water can easily enter the air intake, damage the electronic system and the engine badly. It’d better that the driver should get out of the car and look for a safe spot then salvage the vehicle later after the water levels reduce.
