10 Best-Selling SUVs In August 2019 In India: From Hyundai Venue To Honda WR-V

Despite the slump in the automobile industry, the compact and mid-size SUV segments are still thriving, thanks to the introduction of the new models. Below is a list of 10 best-selling SUVs in India in August 2019.

Hyundai Motor India Limited has derived plenty of benefits from its recently launched compact SUV, the Hyundai Venue which has witnessed a remarkable improvement in sales number for the past months. The dominating position in the Indian compact SUV segment had been defended by the Maruti Vitara Brezza until July 2019 when it was taken over by the Venue with 9,342 units sold. Last month, the first connected SUV in India continued to maintain its first position by selling 9,342 units, exceeding the Vitara Brezza, which was in the second position by selling 2,223 units.

The Hyundai Venue reached the 50,000-booking mark within just two months after its introduction and is anticipated to continue its good performance in the months to come. The Maruti Vitara Brezza recorded 7,109 units sold last month, witnessing a considerable YoY reduction of up to 46% from 13,271 units in the same period last year.

Last month, the Maruti Vitara Brezza experienced a large reduction in sales number from the same period last year.

With 6,236 units sold last month, the Kia Seltos sold 235 units more than its chief rival, Hyundai Creta, which experienced a YoY decrease of up to 42% and sat in the fourth position. The second-gen Creta scheduled for 2020 is expected to pose serious threats to the Seltos once it arrives in the market. Below the Hyundai Creta, the Ford EcoSport held the fifth position with a sales number of 2,882 units last month.

Despite being a new comer to the segment, the Kia Seltos attained the third position.

The Mahindra Scorpio and XUV300 were ranked in the sixth and seventh positions with 2,862 and 2,532 units sold in August, respectively. The first Indian-made car to achieve a 5-star rating in the global NCAP's crash test, the Tata Nexon, attained the eighth position with 2,275 units sold and celebrated its Kraz limited edition gaining one lakh customers. The Hector, which is MG Motor’s first vehicle for the Indian auto market, recorded a total sales number of 2,018 units, which helped it reach the ninth position ahead of the Honda WR-V, which was ranked in the 10th position with 1,178 units sold.
