Kia Sonet has outperformed the Maruti Vitara Brezza and its cousin Hyundai Venue to become the best-selling compact SUV in India last month.
Kia is enjoying the taste of sweetness in the Indian market with the newly-launch Kia Sonet. Being the company’s foray into the sub-four-metre SUV segment, the Kia Sonet quickly garners a large band of fan-followers after a short period of time. The Kia car witnessed over 9,000 units sold in just 12 days of launch. In October 2020, Kia Sonet is the second best-selling model in the segment. However, in the month of November, the all-new Sonet outnumbered the Vitara Brezza in terms of sales and became the highest-selling compact SUV of India.
Specifically, Kia sold a total of 11,417 units of the Sonet in India in November which posts a comfortable lead of 3,579 units over the Vitara Brezza and 2,152 units over the Venue. The Maruti Vitara Brezza was retailed at units in the same month while that of the Venue was at 9,265 units. As you all know that the segment is currently a fiercely-contested one in India with a plethora of models. Therefore, the fact that Kia Sonet which has just gone on sale for a couple of months achieved that feat is brilliant.
Kia Car Sales Growth
Kia’s popular mid-size SUV, the Seltos gained 9,205 takers in India in November 2020, seeing a 34.27 percent dip as against 14,005 units sold in the same month last year. The sales figure of the Kia Carnival premium MPV is at 400 units.
Still, the South Korean company continues its decent sales momentum in the month of November 2020. The company sold a total of 21,022 units last month, which boasts of a 50 percent sales growth on the year-on-year basis. In November 2019, Kia managed to deliver 7,017 units. It’s worth noting that there are only three products from Kia in the Indian lineup now.
“I am delighted to witness the wide acceptance we have received in India for our vehicles. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, we were quite hopeful about the festive month and the results are overwhelming. Not only urban, but customers from tier II, III and IV markets too are acknowledging the need for the personal mobility to maintain personal safety”, said Kookyun Shim, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer.
