The total cost of the repair estimate is over twice the amount of the whole vehicle. The Nissan Magnite is a fairly new entrant in the segment and is selling quite well, but acts like these can drive customers away.

A Nissan Magnite owner from Andhra Pradesh, Indraharsha Kondamuri, was involved in an accident with an Andhra Pradesh State RTC and suffered injuries. After spending close to a week in the hospital, the owner returned home only to be shocked by the estimated repair costs quoted by the dealership authorities. The subcompact SUV was heavily damaged with the front-end bearing the brunt of the accident. The Magnite has a 4-star crash-test safety rating from the ASEAN NCAP, which came of great importance in this crash.

However, nothing can justify the cost of the repair estimate that was emailed to the owner by the dealership, with a total cost nearing Rs 21 lakh. The owner was asked to pay 1% of the total cost to get the gate pass generated for the vehicle. Kondamuri claimed that the Nissan service centre estimated the vehicle repair costs at the parking lot, with the Magnite not being taken to the workshop to get a proper diagnose of the wreckage. The vehicle was considered a total loss as the repair costs exceeded 75% of the Insured Declared Value. Each of the headlight assemblies was quoted around Rs 20,000 while the estimated prices of the side camera assembly were around Rs 47,000 before taxes.

The Nissan Magnite is one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs in the market today, with prices ranging between Rs 5.59 lakh -  Rs. 9.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The owner had bought the flagship Turbo XV Premium CVT model, but the cost estimate of total repairs for the vehicle is more than twice the price of the subcompact SUV. This is a pretty absurd estimate and acts like this can give a manufacturer a negative reputation.
