One can’t deny that Tata cars are scaling higher in terms of safety and build quality. The same goes for its entry-level hatchback, Tata Tiago. Being one of the safest hatchback cars under 5 lakh in India, the Tata Tiago has excellently secured a 4-star rating from the Global NCAP. It boasts of a sturdy structure and components that can withstand strong impact. While we’re been reporting you various cases of accidents of Tata Tiago earlier, here’s the latest case involving a Tata Tiago having a head-on collision with a truck. Here are the details.

It was on the outer ring road of Chennai at night when the Tata Tiago was hit by an oncoming truck at high speed. As you can see from the images, the Tata Tiago has been in very bad shape after the accident. The front portion of the Tiago has been damaged completely and is mostly beyond repairs. The engine bay is mostly crumpled, even revealing the radiator. The chassis has twisted badly while the tyres have burst due to the heavy impact. Even the doors have been deformed to an unusual shape owing to a collision. The impact even made it to the cabin as the driver’s seat was broken while the front headrest was missing.

Luckily, the airbags deployed right at the collision and the driver could get out without major injuries. Still, he got a sprain on his knees and bruise to his body due to the seatbelt. The Tiago’s owner feels lucky enough with the excellent build quality of the car, despite the fact that his car had met with an accident and would lose 25% of the claimed value as the car has covered 1 kilometre. While Tata has roasted Maruti S-Presso and Wagon R for their low scores at the Global NCAP safety tests, it seems like the Tiago has formed a good ground for the company’s funny digs.

Being the best-selling car of the brand in India for quite a time, Tata Tiago comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 86 BHP/ 116 Nm of peak torque. Earlier, the Tiago offered a torque 1.05-litre diesel engine option which was discontinued due to the stricter BSVI emission norms.

Tata Tiago is also a well-loaded model that offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay supports, a fully-digital instrument cluster, 8-speaker surround sound system among others. In terms of safety, the Tata Tiago is equipped with dual airbags, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD and CSC, Energy-absorbing body structure and many more. Tata has recently increased the service interval of the new Tiago to 1 year instead of every six months as in the pre-facelifted model.
