The launch of the next-gen Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is only weeks away from us. The new-gen Hyundai car has been confirmed for its market launch on August 20, 2019. Prior to its official launch, Hyundai has been testing the all-new B-segment hatchback in several locations across the country and sightings of these road tests have led to the revelation of some of the radical visual changes that the car would carry. Recently, Hyundai has already dropped an official promo video of the 2019 Grand i10 Nios, hinting at some exterior design and the rear-end details of the new vehicle.

First launched in the country in 2013, the Hyundai Grand i10 has been a runaway success for the South Korean brand, not only in India but also in some other international markets. Even after 7 years of presence, the city car has been clocking decent sales numbers every month. In May, the carmaker even added a CNG variant to the Grand i10’s lineup. Now, in the coming weeks, we’ll see a completely new car going on sale in India in the form of the 2019 Grand i10 Nios. The new model will make its international motor show debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show after having a debut in our country. 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Review – Design

The upcoming next-gen Hyundai Grand i10Nios is slated to undergo serious updates in its styling. The new hatchback from Hyundai is expected to share the underpinnings with the recently-launched Hyundai Venue. This new architecture will be even seen on the new-gen Kia Picanto and the brand new subcompact SUV codenamed Kia QYI. With the all-new platform, the 2019 Grand i10 Nios will measure slightly different from the outgoing model. Though the new hatchback will get the same length as the outgoing car, it will offer more headroom and get a longer wheelbase as compared to the previous-gen model.

It should be noted that the new Grand i10 Nios will be built to the same dimensions across the globe. The India-spec Grand i10 currently gets a long-wheelbase version while the Euro-spec car is 100 mm smaller, which means that in the new avatar, the Euro-spec car will be much bigger than the older one.

Aesthetically, as a batch of spy images has shown, the forthcoming Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will sport fresh styling design on the outside, all the ways to enhance a sportier and funkier look. The new car will be developed on Hyundai’s latest design language seeing the adoption of the fluidic design cascading grille (wider than the current one) which features a set of boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights on each its outer ends, new diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, sharper and more aggressive-looking projector headlamps and sportier creases on the hood and roof, vertical fog lamps, wraparound tail lamp, rising beltlines making a sleeker greenhouse among other updated styling bits. The new Grand i10 Nios has been recently revealed in a speculated rendering that gives us a brief idea of how the car would look like.

Although the cabin of the Grand i10 is recognized the best in its class when talking about the space and features list, Hyundai seems to have an insatiable desire to get more with the 2019 Grand i10 Nios car. The new-gen model will carry a complete redesign on the inside for better driving pleasure and comfort. Hyundai is known for being quite generous in using electronic bits inside its vehicles and that’ll be the case for the new-gen Grand i10 Nios as well.

The infotainment system of the Grand i10 Nios will be compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and more importantly, Hyundai’s Blue Link connectivity feature. With the arrival of Blue Link connected car technology, the new-gen 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will be the first car to offer that range of features in the segment.

Possibly, climate control might be also offered in the new Hyundai offering. Besides, we will also see the inclusion of more comfort-focused features inside the vehicle, including the cooled glovebox, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, rear AC vents and even sunroof. As the 2019 Grand i10 Nios will be larger than the outgoing version, the car will get more room to seat up to three in comfort at the back. It will also come up with slimmer seats that roll out the higher sense of spaciousness in effect, along with the adjustable headrest. 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Review - Specifications

As the new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will arrive at the country when the BSVI emission norms are around the corner, it is expected to come with BSVI-spec version of the current 1.2-litre Kappa petrol mill. This engine is capable of delivering 83 HP of power and 113 Nm of peak torque.

Also, a 1.2-lire U2 diesel motor is suspected to be on offer as well, and of course in BSVI guise, with the capability to churn out 75 HP of maximum power and 194 Nm of peak torque. Later, the CNG-petrol variant of the Grand i10 Nios will be introduced a later on and in BSVI form. The transmission choices of the new Grand i10 Nios will include 5-speed MT as standard while the 4-speed AT will be replaced by an AMT unit which is also found on the Hyundai Santro sibling.

After the official unveiling of the Grand i10 Nios held in India some days ago, the South Korean carmaker has also already revealed the fuel mileage figures of the new mid-size hatchback. That said, the petrol-MT variants of the Grand i10 Nios will get a fuel efficiency of 20.7 kmpl while the petrol-AMT counterparts can deliver a fuel mileage of 20.5 kmpl. Meanwhile, the diesel-manual models of the car score at 26.2  kmpl in terms of fuel efficiency figure while that of the diesel-AMT variants stand at 28.4 kmpl.

The launch of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is still a while away from now, so we will save it for a later date until the new-gen car officially comes to us to talk more about the performance and ride quality of the much-awaited vehicle.

2019 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios - Estimated Price and Competition

From the above information, we can say that Hyundai is all set to fight tooth and nail with its arch-rivals in the hatchback competition. Currently, the Grand i10 Nios is directly competing against the likes of the Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Ford Figo or even the upcoming next-gen Hyundai Xcent. With quite a decent exterior and interior upgrades, the next-gen Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will command a premium over the existing model, which is currently priced in the range of Rs 4.98 – 7.63 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
