1. Hyundai Aura vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios: Introduction

Hyundai has recently launched the Aura, its all-new Xcent-based subcompact sedan to the Indian enthusiasts. It is not an exacerbation to say that Hyundai’s designers must have burnt the mid-night lamps to spice thing up in the new Hyundai Aura’s cosmetic appeal.

Based on the company’s “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy, the Hyundai Aura gets a host of design cues first seen on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback sibling. As a result, the Aura looks quite similar to the i10 Nios hatchback, especially at the front. However, what sets the Aura apart from the Grand i10 Nios should be a handful of styling tweaks, robust construction and new powertrain options that are parts of the carmaker’s intent to cement a stronger position in the sub-4m sedan segment.

3. Hyundai Aura vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Design: Which Is Better Looking?

Exterior Comparison

Based on Hyundai's “sensuous sporty” design philosophy, the newly-unveiled Hyundai Aura gets its huge inspiration from the styling of the Grand i10 Nios hatchback, save for some tweaked design cues. At first glance, many people might mistake it for the Grand i10 Nios, especially at the front face. From the sharp-looking projector headlamps to the position of boomerang-shaped daytime running lamps as well as the angular fog lamps, the Aura carries forward all these cues from the Nios hatchback.

What sets them apart here is that while the Grand i10 Nios comes with a single boomerang-shaped DRLs placed on the outer ends of the grille, the Aura duplicates it with integrated dual units.  Also, the Hyundai Aura adopts a blacked-out honeycomb mesh grille in place the big “cascading grille” of the Grand i10 Nios sibling. Besides, it is also worth noting that the Aura gets a split-styled front grille while that of the Grand i10 Nios is a single-piece unit.

While most part of the Aura sedan’s front styling design is similar to the Grand i10 Nios, the Aura also differentiates itself from the earlier hatchback from the C-pillar onwards with a completely revised boot. The new sub-four-metre sedan comes with a glossy black applique on the C-pillar, lending it a floating roof effect.

The rear fascia of the car features distinctive wraparound C-shaped taillights with LED inserts, a shark fin antenna, a bumper-mounted number plate holder among others. The Grand i10 Nios gets an upright stance for a typical hatchback while the Aura, albeit being a bit 'hatchback-ish', still looks more like a coupe in the way the roof slopes. The diamond-cut alloy wheels design of the Aura is also slightly different from the Grand i10 Nios’s units.

The interior of the new Hyundai Aura is almost the same as the Nios, but with a change in the colour palette. The new compact sedan shares its dashboard layout, controls and seats with the Grand i10 Nios, but uses darker colours like brown and black to lend it a slightly more premium feel. Like the popular hatch, the sedan makes use of an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is replete with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay along with a 5.3-inch digital MID in the instrument cluster, Arkamys premium sound system, wireless charging system, and more.
