MG Motor decided to start its Indian innings in the days when the massive slowdown has plagued the entire market. However, the British automotive brand has managed to cement quite a strong foothold in India, courtesy of the overwhelming response of the company’s maiden product for the country, the MG Hector. In 2020, the Chinese-owned British company is contemplating bringing a flurry of products to the Indian market, all of which might be introduced at the 2020 Auto Expo. To give you an idea of what cars we will get to see at MG pavilion at 2020 Auto Expo, here’s the list of all upcoming MG cars at Auto Expo 2020.

MG Cars at Auto Expo 2020 - Hector 7-Seater

MG is expected to showcase the seven-seater version of the MG Hector at the imminent Expo. As per the spy shot of the Hector 7 Seater, the upcoming MG car will share a lot of features with the hot-selling 5-seater SUV but will be marginally longer with some minor design updates. Exterior wise, the seven-seat Hector gets quite an MPV-ish stance as it’s likely to be longer than the 5-seater by 40mm. It will feature some tweaks for the front and rear bumpers like new LED DRLs design. The biggest talking point for the new Hector 7 Seater SUV is its captain seats for the second row which features leather upholstery and contrast stitching. That means the three-row Hector will be available in a 6-seat configuration as well. The seats will get an integrated foldable armrest as well as the recline and slide function.

Engine options for the new vehicle are expected to be carried forward form the original Hector, albeit in BSVI guise. Powering the 7-seater SUV will be a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine along with a 2.0-litre Fiat-sourced diesel unit. Transmission choices for the vehicle will include a standard 6-speed manual transmission and a DCT as an option for the petrol model. The MG Hector seven-seater is likely to get a premium of about Rs 1 Lakh in terms of price over the corresponding Hector versions which are currently priced from Rs 12.48 – 17.28 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will come to fare against the likes of 2020 Mahindra XUV500, XUV500-based Ford SUV and the Tata Gravitas.

MG Cars at Auto Expo 2020 - MG Gloster (Re-badged Maxus D90)

The D90 is a flagship SUV of the Chinese utility vehicle maker Maxus which is essentially a subsidiary of the MG’s parent company SAIC. MG Motor India is mulling over the plan of rebadging the Maxus D90 and placing it against popular SUV models like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Mahindra Alturas G4. As per latest reports, the car will be called MG Gloster. Obviously, the fight is touch as these aforementioned SUVs are well-established players in their segment but we can deny that the MG SUV will have a lot to offer.

The upcoming MG Gloster will get massive dimensions, measuring 5,005 mm in length, 1,875 mm in height, 1,932 mm in width that would translate into a great road presence. Barring that, it will be brimmed with features such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.0-inch digital screen for the instrument panel, adaptive LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, 360-degree camera view among others. While the global-spec D90 has been on sale with a single 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 224 HP/360 Nm of torque, for the time being, the Indian-spec car will be available with another 2.0-lite diesel engine option as well to cater to the market demand. The MG Gloster will be the company's flagship among all upcoming MG cars at Auto Expo 2020.

Based on the global-spec Baojun RS-3, MG’s forthcoming compact SUV might measure 4,305 mm long, 1,748 mm wide and 1,597 mm high along with the wheelbase of 2,550 mm, which are quite similar to the dimensions of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. In all likelihood, the upcoming MG car could make use of two petrol engine options under the hood: a 104 BHP 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol mill mated to 6-speed MT or a CVT along with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit tuned for a max power of 128 BHP. Let’s wait to see how this MG compact SUV would take a toll on the segment’s sales chart after it’s launched in the country.

MG Cars at Auto Expo 2020 - MG ZS EV

The ZS EV might not be among the cars at Auto Expo 2020 as it was unveiled to the Indian market last month with the launch timeline confirmed for January 2020 but still, it is a prominent car that is set to enter India. Bookings for the ZS EV has already commenced in some cities for a token amount of Rs 50,000. Also, for the uninitiated, the British company plans to add 100 units of ZS EV to the Lithium’s self-rental fleets. Being a pure electric SUV by MG, the ZS EV will rub its shoulders against the Hyundai Kona Electric among other upcoming electric cars in India. The company’s second product for our market will be initially introduced in 5 major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The upcoming MG ZS EV will be propelled by an electric motor making 141 BHP/ 353 Nm of torque that features a 44.5 kWh battery pack. The MG ZS EV is said to cover a driving range of almost 340 kmph for a single charge and capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds.

MG RC-6

MG has been a car manufacturer, which is selling only SUVs for now. However, the manufacturer will soon be launching a D-segment sedan in the Indian market, which will take on a direct rivalry with cars like Toyota Corolla, Skoda and Octavia, and more. The RC-6 is designed as a Cross-Saloon and thus it gets subtle black cladding all-around and a fastback-like roofline. With these design attributes, the RC-6 gets a very distinctive silhouette, which will be a key highlight of this car. On the front, the car will wear a typical MG grille to give the car a familiar design approach. The RC-6 will also be a size bigger and is expected to have a lot more features than the car it will rival. With all of it hanging on the car's side, we are sure the MG RC-6 will certainly be an attention grabber at the MG space and thus one of the many MG cars at auto expo 2020 that one needs to watch out for.
